I was talking to my accountant about that this morning. No way round it apparently if you are a Pushtoenglezos!

I hope you realise I was just kidding.

But I guess if anyone is to know, it would be your accountant.

I did.

No problem anyhow because not all Englezoi are Pushtoenglezoi.

What does amaze me is the two tier price scale here, i.e. local versus tourist(stranger) .I know this because I pay local prices,if the business can survive on local prices why not a standard price for all? I am sure when they buy their stock it is a standard prices .

OK, but on the other hand one of the great things about Cyprus is that places like restaurants are legally required to display their prices both outside the premises and on menus. This surely helps to circumvent such practices.

Maybe tourism needs to die. It is a slut of an industry. No more concrete.

Isn't there a consumer and trading standards department to bust scammers like this?

No it doesnt fit the whole world!I have travelled all over and Cyprus is one of the worst countries I have ever lived in for ripping off its visitors and expats alike. It is a dirty country with third world infrastructure(roads, drains, water supply etc) some of the worst illegal practices designed to rip off the non Cypriot that dares to bring their goods with them when they come here to live from another EU country(Cars etc)and corruption and nepotism that is illegal under EU law not to mention the immorality of it all!The Cypriots want all the EU cash and handouts they can get their greedy little hands on but making sure they keep it in the family,God forbid they let someone who actually knows how to do the job properly for half the price get a look in!Yes I am bitter,I am too old to start again and still am stuck in a no win situation due to greed and apathy.
