Complaints

Postby ericroskamp » Thu Mar 04, 2010 12:16 pm

Is there a website or organisation where you can complain about a company and/or get legal advice, without paying an expensive lawyer?

I have a problem with a software I bought from a Software Company in Cyprus. They promised that the software was in English and after using it's half Greek and English. Now they don't want to give the money back. I just want to find out what can I do or post some complaints about them.

Yes, I know this is possible, but I am still waiting for their solution. Just want to know if there is free legal advice at an office somewhere in this country, so I know my position in this situation.

The same as every other country… the Ministry of Commerce has a consumer complaints department.

Consumer Protection Centres

The Service operates consumer protection centres in the major towns on the island. The consumers may apply at these centres in order to obtain information or to submit a complaint.

For further information call

just open a thread and name it something like this "XXXXXXX LTD - Stay Away!!!"
Google will pick it up in an hour or so... then try searching them in Google, i bet it will come in first 2 results.

I, as do a number of others on here, have pretty good knowledge of the local software industry. You probably have no chance of getting anything sorted if the software is locally developed. I also doubt you have anything in writing saying that all the software is in English, and we all know that a verbal contract is not worth the paper it is written on!

So it looks like Ray's suggestion above gets the winning vote. .... or the threat of Ray's suggestion.
