VISITING CYPRUS

Postby CAZ999 » Wed Mar 03, 2010 3:03 pm

HI. LOOKING TO BOOK A FAMILY HOLIDAY TO CYPRUS FOR THIS SUMMER. FAMILY OF 4 - 2 TEENAGE SONS. LIKE PLACES THAT ARE QUITE TRADITIONAL, RATHER THAN TOURISTY, HOWEVER WE NEED THE LADS TO HAVE THINGS TO DO. WE LIKE TO BE ABLE TO HAVE BARS, RESTAURANTS ETC WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. TRYING TO FIND SOMEWHERE THAT MATCHES OUR CRITERIA AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT MAYBE GOING TO POLIS / LACHI.
WOULD WELCOME FEEDBACK AND ANY SUGGESTIONS

Try the Troodos mountains for a couple of nights to see something different.

Not much to interest teenagers there, I am afraid. On the other hand, the Troodos mountains are easily accessible from Limassol.

Unfortunately not many tourist resorts are 'traditional' in Cyprus. Most have a modern feel, although Pafos has an old town which is nice to walk around.

Similarly Limassol is a working town and has a castle.

Larnaca would be a good choice I think. Almost split in two at the fort between modern and traditional, and still my favourite Cyprus resort - I've never felt so welcomed anywhere, but for some reason British tour operators continue to ignore it.

One option would be agrotourism, which is quite reasonably priced, and very good for seeing the Cyprus villages (just google Cyprus agrotourism) but you're going to be some distance from the "fun" areas for the teens, and would be too quiet for them.

Maybe consider Pernera, near Protaras - its a modern resort, but small and friendly, while Ayia Napa's only a bus ride away.

Polis also has a nice "traditional" feel about it, but lacks nightlife again for the teens.

Search holidays uncovered or holiday truths for reviews of the resorts and see what you think.

Whichever you choose, you'll love it!

Paphos area for the boys and accessibility to shops, bars etc.Bus to other parts of the island or get car hire to really enjoy the experience.Polis and Latchi really lovely but a bit quiet for teenagers.Lovely boat trips from Latchi with BBQ on board a real day out Cyprus style.Troodos lovely and the surrounding villages, tavernas quite reasonable off the beaten track.

try our hotel - coral beach hotel&resort. we have a really good animation team so the boys will find something to participate in we can book them on day trips such as horse riding etc, there is the coral bay go-karts (go-carting) up the road. we also have a family plan which is on all inclusive basis. call me at work and i'll give you a quote for the days you intend to visit
