Online gambling ban discussed

Postby paliometoxo » Tue Mar 02, 2010 6:06 pm

NICOSIA – The House Legal Affairs Committee is discussing making internet gambling in Cyprus illegal.

This follows reports that a number of gambling facilities based in Malta have formed partnerships with betting shops in Cyprus.

Attorney General Petros Klerides said these companies were not committing a crime as they were based abroad.

The Court of European Communities however recently ruled that all EU 27 countries had the right to minimise the operating hours of online gambling establishments to protect the public.

Agreed...

It is about time we reminded our politicians that we pay them to represent us.

We don't pay them to control every aspect of our lives and tell us what to eat, drink, smoke and where we can gamble if we want to!

Was this in a manifesto? Did anybody ever vote for it? No.
