election will be on april 18th.

`ANKARA STANDS AT EQUAL DISTANCE FROM ALL CANDIDATES`

The Turkish Minister of State – deputy-Prime Minister Cemil Cicek has said that the Turkish Government stands at equal distance from all candidates who are to compete in the TRNC Presidential elections. Mr Cicek’s comments came in response to President Mehmet Ali Talat’s statement that Turkey’s Justice and Development Party’s policies would lose if he lost the elections.
We are standing at equal distance from all candidates. We are ready to work with the candidate to be elected by the voters`, Mr Cicek said after a meeting of the Council of Ministers yesterday.
He said `Turkey’s support is not to the individuals, but to the Turkish Cypriot People and to the policies followed there`.

The Minister also noted that Ankara is in support of a fair and lasting solution in Cyprus to be found within the framework of the United Nations parameters.

18th so two weeks to decide who wins?

who will you vote for halil? will gcs allowed to vote like tcs where allowed to vote in our elections?

Erdogan, is here today and gone tomorrow! What matters is the ulterior Turkish policy against Cyprus that will ALWAYS override any Turkish PM's sweet talk!

We’ll know exactly when Turkey has good intentions and being governed by decent people when they abide by UN resolutions!

u are the one who is saying all the time Turkey is the boss..... here it is the boss.

Turkey supports “wholeheartedly and with sincerity” a solution based on the framework agreed between the two leaders on May 23, 2008, namely a bizonal, bicommunal federation as defined by relevant UN resolutions, with political equality and a single international identity.

According to our recent poll, 72% of Cyprus Turks support the Turkish military, not the "boss".

So who are we to trust, halil? The "boss" or the military who the vast majority of your people would side with in a civil war?

I agree with you, DT. On surface, it was a positive statement by Erdogan. I don't have the time to go beyond the surface right now to see what lies beneath it. But what I can say right now is, even if Erdogan is 0%- 50% sincere in what he said, then I pick Talat to be re-elected in April, because the last thing Erdogan needs after this statement, is another "ugly Fascist" to be the face of the TC leadership while trying to win the GCs over, or to try and convince the world that Turkey is serious about playing a positive role in finding peace in Cyprus. So, looks like Talat will continue playing the role of a "President" a while longer until he actually becomes one in a unified Cyprus so that he can shed his puppet status..!

One other thing that made me take notice was this quote from Erdogan. “What happened has happened in the past, we should leave it there. We have to look at the future and how we build the future." I wish some people would do the same here on the forum, specially some of my TC friends who are stuck in the past and want the GCs to “pay the price” for their mistakes in order to move forward, because if every side were to “pay a price” to the other for their own wrongdoings in the past, we would all go broke.! I’ll give Erdogan the benefit of the doubt at this point in time. Even though he is playing with some of the wordings he has used, it still comes over as positive. Perhaps Talat and the rest of the so called leaders in the north can start speaking in the same tone from now on, now that their “boss” has done so.!

Those are just the fascists, the morally corrupted and anti Democracy & Human Rights individuals who are only interested in holding onto their stolen GC properties who would like to have the TA safeguard their ill gotten interests. You will find all those who do not fit the above description, will not back the TA.!

I hope you're right. Only all these lowlife outlaws seemed to be heavily represented on the CF...

And it's Birkibrisli who described Viewpoint as the "average TC"... I hope he's wrong.

I have already pointed that out to Bir few weeks back, by him "appointing" VP to be the face of an average TC, he was doing injustice to average decent TCs, since VP is a Racist Fascist. I think my friend Bir has heard me and has stopped using VP as being the "average TC". VP represents all the morally corrupted, be they be TCs, Settlers or the Carpetbaggers.! That I believe, that VP does represent the average Morally Corrupted individuals..!
