In previous years, Congress has attempted to pass a resolution to recognize the Armenian events as genocide. Such a resolution would inflame Turkey and has brought vows from past U.S. administrations that they would block the bill, a nod to Turkey's role as a key ally of Washington in the Middle East.http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 ... 77622.html
This is about Ottoman Empire which no longer exists. What difference will it make one way or the other.
Your question is answered here…
“The resolution calls on President Barack Obama to ensure that US foreign policy reflects an understanding of the "genocide" and to label the World War I killings as such in his annual statement on the issue.”http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8550765.stmThis should have far reaching implications for Turkey.
Actually, I’m going to go one step further by saying (predicting) that the US (heavily influenced by AIPAC) have embarked on a new foreign policy with Turkey. Erdogan’s fallout with the spiteful Israelis was pivotal.
This may turn out to be the most refreshing development for Cyprus.
Well I'll predict that nothing will change. Business as usual will continue.
It was not Turkey that did it, it was the Ottomans. How Ironic that the decendent of the very man that ordered it actually lives in an EU country.
The argument with the israilis is a temporary one for public consumption and it will be business as usual with the israilis soon after the next elections in Turkey. Who ever wins the ellection.
As to how it will affect Cyprus, I think you forget that it was the American who wanted Cyprus split so it is included in Nato through the back door. I really do wish that one day you will wake up to realities of the world order and swim with the tide rather than against as it's making you stand still.
