Human tragedies should never be used to promote one's view - Trading tragedies and human suffering for both TC and GC does nothing but promote hatred. The human cost was felt by all Cypriots.

OMG :(

This would be from around my village area :(

Those bastards think Turkey just came to save them in 1974, when they had been making their selfish, expansionist invasion attempts from a decade before.

btw I can't get a soundtrack.

Your newsreel (Feb 1964) was for the events which preceded the Turkish bombardments and Napalming in the summer of 1964 (frogeye's link). These protests in your newsreel were requests for help from the UN and others. Makarios had formally requested extra assurances and help towards maintaining Cyprus' independence because he saw what the TCs and Turkey were preparing for.

All the evidence is there. The TCs with Turkey planned the whole invasion from the moment we sought independence and then upped the antics once we were given independence ... They planned to take away Cyprus' independence as soon as some (minimal) power was given to the GCs to decide their future!
