On the other hand, the Eroğlu government has passed a new law to prevent the import of EU-compliant potato seedlings, which will apparently mean that TC farmers will no longer be able to export potatoes to the south, as they have been doing with a certain amount of success until now. The obstacles are coming from various directions.

 What is it with fruit and veg? We've had trouble with attempts to pass off Onions as sourced in Tnucland trying to get across the Green Line Regs and now potatoes.

You really need an explanation

Ok, let me see, just a couple of things to think about:

1. Compare the population size and the ability to produce goods and services pre and post 1974.

2. How about UN embargo? and no one willing to trade with TRNC directly.

The EU is bending over backwards to find a way to accept a 70m populated muslim country into the EU SOLELY for its consumers and labour market.

The occupied areas have had a captive audience in Turkey for the past 30 odd years where just out of sheer patriotism if you only produced the bendy straws that go in juice's for 1 cent a piece you'd have a monopoly in that 70 million marketplace.

if just 50% of the Turkish population brought a pack once a week then you'd be exporting 125m Euros worth of bendy straws.

But instead you opted to create a civil service that employs 1/3 of your population to serve a state that doesn't legally exist

They employ these people to have a pretend gogernment, hoping that they will con the world into believing they actually exsist.

Such is the deviousness of these people.

Seriously can you have any sympathy with them???

And those thumb-twiddling "civil servants" had nothing better to do than examine their "economy"

Pretend "civil servants" in a pretend "state", with pretend "journalists" and technicians "working" for Fascist Broadcasters, with much of the rest of the employment in a pretend "police force", but in a real Police State, should we expect anything else?

Get these Placemen and Placewomen out of their nice, comfortable, do nothing "jobs", with their early sinecures, and in to the private wealth producing sectors, in to the bendy straw factories.

and what have we got for the past 36 years, TC's living in peace, and no violence, no harassment, no fear from their so called neighbours.

Yes ... let's compare the population sizes and "abilities" pre and post 1974.

Pre-1974 -- There were 200,000 GCs in what is now the occupied area. Increase that by 15% to 20% to account for TCs. How much is that?

Post 1974 -- We have an (illegal) population anywhere between 250,000 (lowest) and 1M (highest).

Which of those figures are you choosing to excuse abysmally poor GDP, under occupation?

As for "abilities" pre and post 1974; well, things have improved dramatically in the free world since then. So, one would expect the GDP for such an area, to have increased substantially.

So do you care to adjust your "dumb" phrase to explain criticising my fiscal projections?

Yeah have a good old larph and you probably larphing at the blacks in South Africa as well for their running of their economy.

Step back a bit, take a look at the reasons why these things happen, FFS, do I have to explain it to you, or are you really uneducated and you make out you know everything?
