Asus O!Play media player

Postby georgios100 » Mon Feb 22, 2010 9:15 pm

I paid about $105CAN for this player and got rid of my DVD player. A great piece of hardware, connects direct to TV and can play any media on storage (USB, external hard drive etc) without having to convert .avi to TS, burn on disk etc. Same goes for pics and music.

Anyone knows if this product is sold in Cyprus?
My brother wants one (Larnaca).

I know Amazon or other vendors online have it, thanks.

My brother does not trust any website to order online! He wants to go to the actual store and pay for it on the spot... he is old school!

Yeah, the Western digital media player looks almost the same as the ASUS.

The only difference is that the Western digital media player is missing the Ethernet jack so you can not connect to your home network and transfer files from your desktop to the player wirelessly.

The ASUS has it but the transfer speed is slow for video files due to the size.

I was downloading .avi, convert to TS (Nero) and burn to DVD. Many hours...
Now, I keep all my movies .avi ( no Cam)on external hard drive (Maxtor). I have a collection of all the UFC events. This new player is very convenient. Even for subtitles, way easier to download, embed etc

i imagine your dvd player you had to convert to ts then to dvd format to be able to play them now with your new dvd player the xvid works fine no converting and at that price its very cheap, i had one similar from orphanides but it did not take the usb stick, sounds like definatly a good thing to have in the house especially for me that i download constantly new movies and tv episodes

I literally put my DVD player in the garbage. I download stuff all night, don't have the time anymore for conversions... the new media player is the way to go.

I watch live streaming as well, usually on Megavideo. I got a crack to eliminate the time limit by changing the IP address... it only takes about a minute, using a .bat file.
