Don't get me wrong, the choice of mods isn't bad, my opinion is that there could have been a better way of handling the issue. Also please note that I personally would not like to be a moderator, so I'm not having a dig for that reason, just would have liked a say in the matter as I'm on here pretty much all week.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a dig at Lana and Bro', its like Liza said all this happened so quickly that it was like certain members were getting smacked bottoms because of this sudden tsunami of Moderators and I just felt it was a very big change to happen over night! :?

I do see your point Marina mou, maybe admin should have informed members of the change before enforcing it. If people aren't happy with the system of moderation I'd encourage them to PM admin and tell him. Personally, I don't really have much to do as a moderator and I'm not entirely sure that it's helped forums stay on topic anyway, it's just resulted in edited messages being posted everywhere, which as you says is confusing. I don't think any mods have overplayed their hand, but it's a thankless task and one that I'm not sure is necessary to the extent that it's being used in some areas. I think in this section, it should only be applied to warn folks that they've overstepped the mark, possibly by keeping the original post but with the moderators writing comments underneath in red spelling out to the person(s) involved why they should hold back a little. If the person does it consistently, then more aggressive intervention should take place. And that's not to denigrate the job that Lara and Bro' have done, none of the moderators received guidance on how to moderate their particular sections, so effectively they've been forced to wing it.

I mean, who wants to sit around talking about Cyprus all day? Or any other country for that matter - it'd be boring!

The petty arguements are what I come here for!
:D

I agree with Sarah. What has annoyed me though is there is no consistency with the guildlines issued by Admin. Some people go beyond these guildlines and nothing happens to them while others are warned, have their posts deleted or even banned.

There are also members who find some contents offensive to them while others would take the same remarks with a pinch of salt.

If someone finds something offensive then you should respect that persons wishes and not continue to post similer comments regardless if you think it is within the forums guildlines.

I won't be PM-ing admin to complain, I'm just saying how I feel about it, I come to work and connect straight to the Cyprus Forum and like I said it happened too fast!

Personally, I don't really have much to do as a moderator and I'm not entirely sure that it's helped forums stay on topic anyway, it's just resulted in edited messages being posted everywhere, which as you says is confusing.

I personally think its impossible for a thread to stay on topic and if it does it will be a short thread!!
People will be coming into the forum asking a question and then pissing off!!
There is a handful of people in this Forum who are on practically everyday and have formed some sort of "Forum relationship" lets say and they like having a laugh and pulling each others legs, how can they do this otherwise, there is no chat room so its done in the threads!!

I don't think any mods have overplayed their hand, but it's a thankless task and one that I'm not sure is necessary to the extent that it's being used in some areas. I think it's messed up when a thread I posted was altered because I used the word cocaine.......fair enough, it's an illegal substance, however there is a whole thread in the tourism section (I believe) on prostitution - which is also illegal.

What is the difference???

:? :? :?

Of course, this post will probably get altered as well since I used that bad word again!

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum,

using a word is not wrong making reference that using it is o.k is not right and might influence some of our younger members that it's o.k to use drugs which it is not hence that is the long and short of it.

Thanks for the reply Brother.

I always preach the following anti-drugs message to other people - of all ages:

Drugs are for mugs
Just say no
And give them all to me!
