I think it's time we formed a revolutionary alliance of comrades to defeat the evil capitalis fascist machines that are controlling our every posts.

I'm not sure I agree with the terminology you've used MT but I have to say the sudden appearance of 4/5 new moderators in a blink of an eyelid did make me think that our freedom of speach would be more threatened. When a remark can be deleted because "a moderator" decides to do so I'm not sure if I want to continue being part of this forum. Hence my reason for staying away the past week or so (just felt a bit put off). No offence to any of the moderators but that's basically how I feel.
However after saying that I'll give the new system a chance and won't jump my guns

Hi Liza

I am sure no-one will delete a posting or thread lightly; I suspect Moderators were only introduced because keeping an eye on so many postings, on many threads, on several themes was an impossible task fo Admin and certain unpleasant remarks were being made to, and about, fellow Forum members.

Freedom of speech demands responsibility and IMHO a (very) few posters had forgoten that. When ill manners start to drive people away from a great Forum like this, it has to be reined back.

If anyone disagrees with any 'Moderator' action, I take in the future, I will always be happy to explain my reasons.

I hope you will see only the 'lightest touch' from the Mods and stay with us.

Nicely said Liza mou, even on reading some threads on a Monday morning I can't even get into them to answer as theres deleted replys here and there, sad but true, there isn't freedom of speech anymore and I must say I enjoyed this forum so much with my biggest reason being the silliness we would get up too, always brightened up my day and put a big smile on my face. Now all I see is "please stay on the thread".............boring!!

Hi Svetlana,
My question is how did you all become moderators at once, who decides who is a good candidate for moderator. Personally I would have liked to have been asked my opinion ........ In this world we call a forum there should be people in charge, however what happened to democracy ?
Moderators should really be kept to a minimum and maybe a poll could have been put out to establish from all the regulars who we consider to be good candidates for moderator.

Anyway enough said on this subject, I hope that the power given to you all is not misused.

Have to say I agree Marina. But, to their credit, I also think that Lana and Bro' have demonstrated a light touch in this section of the forum. The really difficult one to moderate is the Cyprus problem section and it's there that at times it's difficult to follow threads that have been edited heavily. I guess because of the nature of the discussion there, silliness is not encouraged, but outside the three 'serious' areas, I don't see silliness or 'off-threadedness' as too much of an issue. As Lana says, it's only when it gets offensive that things have to be reigned in. I think off-threadedness is only inappropriate when a new member comes and asks something and it goes off topic immediately, we should at least seek to answer their question before flying off at a tangent.

It was admin's call Liza mou. He approached several of us and asked us if we were willing to be mods. I asked to be mod of the Cyprus-EU section because: 1) I'm interested in the topic, and 2) It's the graveyard of the forum and wouldn't take too much time.

I think Admin avoided a poll because people would have voted for themself, so we could have ended up with Source as mod (god forbid  )

Hi Moosey,

Don't get me wrong, I'm not having a dig at Lana and Bro', its like Liza said all this happened so quickly that it was like certain members were getting smacked bottoms because of this sudden tsunami of Moderators and I just felt it was a very big change to happen over night! :?
