EU draft sets deadline for Turkish withdrawal from Cyprus

In a move likely to infuriate Ankara, a European Union advisory body is preparing to call on Turkey to withdraw its forces from northern Cyprus, setting a deadline of the end of this year for such a withdrawal.

The Committee of Regions (CoR), an EU advisory body representing the bloc’s regional and local governments, is scheduled to vote on a draft report on “Enlargement Strategy and Main Challenges, 2009-2010,” which is focused on candidate countries, on March 2.

But, a good insight into their "mindset" and their greatest fears.

They know it's coming ...

That FINAL deadline!

Yes quite. Believe this is the original source material from the EU. Certainly the nearest could find.

Be warned ...... It's a very loooooong document!

No explicit ref to withrawal of TA in this one, but the usual calls for "normalisation of relations" and adherence to the Additional Protocol.

shite not only is the doc very long, so is the URL !!!

(Stress --- think this is the right doc)

The answer from Turkey and TRNC will be short and sweet: Two fingers up to those who take such decisions :)
While they are at it, they can pass other resolutions too to banish the Euro crises (thanks to Greeks)

You seriously believe Turkey would compromise all her future security for the sake of a "base" in Cyprus?
