Your right, ....these guy's have absolutly no idea of what it's going to take to get the North upto minimal EU Standards, not in Money terms or in terms of Time!!! Just can't see the wood for the tree's can they!! All there good for is gutter snipeing, ....Boy have they got some bloody big shocks coming there way!!!.....

What will be the shock? Are the Turks planning to leave from Cyprus and then we will be "shocked" because we will have to reconstruct the north part of our country? Thats is the best thing that can happen to Cyprus mate.

How about a bet? Turks and British troops and settlers out of Cyprus, and then if we don't make Cyprus one of the top 10 EU countries within 20 years you can have the whole island.

Despite constantly being invaded and oppressed by foreign imperialists we have managed what can be described only as an economic miracle. Imagine what we can do if the foreign imperialists stop occupying our lands and stealing our resources.

What resources would they be, then?

All kinds of resources that come with the land. In 1974 the Turks took 65% of our hotels and tourist accommodation along with more than half of the coastline, more than 50% of the mining and quarrying output, most of the agricultural land (Mesaoria), they took the main port of Cyprus (Famagusta) that handled over 80% of the trade etc.

And still we managed to be where we are today.

Which is where, exactly? Your tourism has priced itself out of the market and your construction industry has robbed itself out of a job.

Vaughan/larnacaman ....you do not get it do you???? You have to read between the lines...let me help...there will NOT be a solution to Cyprob...When the "balance of power" changes then the occupied North will be liberated by force of arms...This will make sure not much of the present infrastructure stays operational in both the North and the South...Not much of the present buildings will be left standing either...When the cloud settles and the GC side is victorious the whole world will pitch in and rebuild the whole of Cyprus from the scratch...Now which part of this dont you understand????

That would be a very sad day Birk .... surely you have a bit more trust in the Cypriot leadership to act a little more coherently ;)

There is a global crisis which especially affected things like the housing and contraction industries around the world. Just in case you didn't notice  Despite this our tourism is already doing better this year already.

And how is this related with the Turks taking our resources???

Maybe liberating Europe from the Nazis was a mistake then? The Nazis didn't want to let free the territories they illegally occupied, and the liberation struggle did result in casualties and destruction.

If there is somebody to be blamed for this is the Nazis (and the Turks in the case of Cyprus), not the people who want to liberate their own lands from the foreign invaders.
