You don't seriously think the Greek Cypriots would ever launch military action against the Turkish Cypriot community, do you?

Even ignoring that Turkey is just minutes flying time away, this is the year 2010 and we've moved three decades and a new Millenium on from the troubles of the 1960s and 1970s. That was an era of military dictatorships around Europe. Today not one of them survives.

I think some people need a victim mentality to fill their personal identity vacuum.

I don't! (I know you didn't ask the question of me - but it does seem that some on the forum do believe this is a distinct possibility, in fact they seem to be waiting for it to happen and would welcome it!)

I think the way the military still dictates the Turkish reich might be the exception; which might explain all these 'victims'.

Don’t you know that the foolish Turkish Cypriots saw fit to save the first batch of numbers to send to leaders around the world in their futile campaign for recognition, but it backfired on them because everyone could see how cheap and easily one could obtain such a gimmick!

thats what i was trying to tell VP also that the gcs would never attack tcs and especially with an army just 75km north of cyprus.. but he insists that once turkish army leaves they will not be able to return and we will kill them as soon as they step out of cyprus.. because they would care about any law telling them not to come back because they did listen to un and ask permission before they came in 74 ;).. but now we are in eu they wont be able to come back according to VP and yes we will kill them..

there is no changing VP's mind he will always live in the past and be scared of something that will never happen.. its a poor excuse that was barely viable in the 74 invasion

Don't u think same thing apply for u as well Palio, If there is a good will why u are afraid of Turkey's guarantees which TC's are asking to be part of the agreement.Your mind will always live in the past as well scaring something will happen again .yours one is also poor excuse. If both sides are willing to live together in peace and have a respect to each other and no need violate others rights. nothing will change people of the cyprus life and no one can notice even if troops are in here or at some where else.To rich for agreement sometimes u have to consider others worries too. If it is not considered, we will hear always some arguments. u can put same excuses for Turkey, VP will put same arguments against u ..... so on ...it will be forever...........

I dont think turkey will attack again but why should we have to have turkey in cyprus forever? its not about being afraid of turkey attacking its the fact we dont want another country as a garantor power turkey greece or england or any other country. there is no real reason to have them here.

I am not telling u that u are wrong with your saying. It will take some time for it Palio. Everything depends how we are going to have respect to each other, how we are educating our kids, how we are preparing to them to live side by side, to communicate with each other, how we are clearing young people minds '' good turk is a death turk'' , ''Gavur '' , ''ottamans'' ''palikaryas'' etc.... etc......

Are the minds of both side are cleared for eachother ? as we have a saying ''when man mouth burns while he was drinking the milk, he eats his yogurt blowing on it ''

how we gonna get rid of it Palio. If we insisting on Turks and Greeks. yaa first we must start to learn how to speak to each other too as well.Than we can start with our kids. More activities between eachother, more friendship between our kids, more business activities between two communities, not the blame the others who are having good contact and relationships between eachother.

to build up bridges between to communities are very important once u achived it, yes u are right we don't need any of them. How both sides are willing to do? show me good signs of it .
