here is the some notices from their meeting.
Following is the statement made by President Talat and Minister Hoyer :
Hoyer: “It is a great pleasure to be here after more than 10 years back to this place at which i met with your predecessor Mr. Denktaş several times. I am very grateful that you allow me to be here again. The German government is of course very much interested in what is going on with your talks with your partners on the other side, and we are encouraged by what we hear from the Secretary-General who visited this beautiful island a few days ago. We probably cannot do very much but I would like to encourage you to move up and speed up the process in which considerable progress has been made and I hope that this is going to continue very soon because loss of time does not help so we just like to wish you success in the negotiations for the benefit of all people on this island.”
Talat: “Thank you very much. It is a pleasure to receive you here. Actually it is true that we made quite good progress in the negotiations although we are not totally satisfied with the pace of the negotiations. In any case it is not possible to deny the progress. Really it is necessary to expedite the process and the SG’s visit was a great opportunity for that. Although we could not exploit it totally. It caused a good boost to our discussions, our negotiations. We are already encouraged to continue in more expedited manner but i think remember the Greek Cypriot side and the EU needs more encouragement. Actually we need a solution desperately but the Greek Cypriot side is a member of the EU and is more comfortable. They need encouragement and this can be done by the EU and the EU member states. A few days ago, I was in Brussels. I gave the same message to the President of the European Parliament and also the members of the institutions and permanent representations in Brussels of the member states. I think we will be able to make more progress if we can continue to negotiate and actually expedite the process and in near future we will be able to resolve this protracted problem once and for all. That is our target. With your help, with the help of international community, European Union and Germany we will succeed. Thank you once again for your visit and I hope the interest of Germany continues.”
Hoyer: “I can also arrive from the fact that the EU and its member states are firmly committed to progress on Cyprus. Sometimes it is very difficult to express it. I have seen wonderful places this morning with the help and guidance of Mr. Nami because I must say it is breathtaking to see wonderful pieces of architecture being restored. This is a little sign of solidarity from the side of the EU to support this. I am aware that in way of infrastructure and other areas a lot more is in the pipeline. It takes sometimes a little bit too long to make it visible but the commitment of the EU is there and also I would like to say that we have very friendly talks today with our collegues in the Greek Cypriot community and your republic of Cyprus and it made me very positively determined to say that obviously you are in very good track and i keep my fingers cross that with speeded up process, you will be successful very soon for the benefit of all your citizens.
