What brings you here?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

so for you you let me off the hook i will equate this to shortsightness on your behalf for not seeing the obvious...

if turkey wanted a solution today she would have volunteered to withdraw from the island taking her citizens with her, but instead she dictates what she wants via talat's mouth....blatandly obvious to say the least...

so in short bir the with the annan plan or any other plan turkey is looking to cement and expand her gains...

there are no ifs or buts about it....wishfull thinking on your behalf...

I am starting to doubt your intelligence,boomers...Either that or you are on the booze all the time... You are not telling me anything new...Turkey likes the status quo, doesn't want a solution, till she is ready to annex the North...There is one way you will stop Turkey...Agree to a deal which will make her withdraw most of her troops, and remove the noose on the TCs so they can breath without Turkey's artificial lungs...If you have a better idea I am all ears...

Bir you are wasting your time these people do not have the capacity or the desire to reach a solution that will get rid of the TA, today announcement about the guarantees issue by the GCs has dropped like a bomb in the north the talks are doomed, this is not something you come out with if there is goodwill at the table obviously these GCs are lieing when they say they want a solution, the only solution they want is the one which gives them total control of the whole island and no TC safeguards.

What the hell is embedded trauma? I'm just pissed that I don't have a frekin homeland to go to, that's how I feel. I remember as a kid I was brought up with constant notions that the TRNC is where my roots are and that the RoC doesn't represent us. After coming back some people also treat me like a foreigner even though I was born here. It just feels weird, I don't know what to call it.

Imbibed (I hope I am spelling it right!) is what you get from your parents without conscious effort...This is how I see it Umit...Your roots are in Cyprus...Not in the political entities engaged in bloody feud, but in the country itself...Australia is your country of birth, but not where you feel you belong...Others pick up on that and treat you like a foreigner...I am luckier. I came to Australia 41 years ago,I was a foreigner then and I am a foreigner now...No internal conflict there...

I was born in Australia and have never felt like a foreigner. I have led a very rich live so far, with many experiences and given opportunities I will never have got anywhere else.

I am an Australian with Cypriot Inheritance.

No conflict here either! How can there be if you live in the best country in the world!

I think BIR doesn't like Australia's one man one vote Federal democracy! Such fairness is an anathema to Bir, as he does not want to see such justice and democracy in Cyprus, but instead wants and desires the methodical Turkification of Cyprus and the destruction of cypriotism!

There can be no other explanation, judging from his posts.

I don't like Australia's worshipping of materialism, their mindless devotion to sport and booze, and their hypocritical assertion that they are the least racist nation on earth...And I have their "it will be all right, mate" attitude which breeds mediocricy ,and their anti-intellectualist tall poppy syndrome...But I can see why you guys would feel right at home here... :P

I havent seen the reports on that VP...I will go and read now...But you are right, our compatriots have not learnt the lessons of 1950,63,and 74...They think they are smart enough to get around the TCs by hook or by crook, again...They can't say we didnt warn them... :(

and i am quickly forming the opinion of prolong usage of prozac is playing havoc with your mind...

since the gates opened the gdp of the occupied has tripled something tirkey never achieved, but achieved very quickly with the roc...the tcs should take note of this instead of proposing ludicrous demands via a puppet...

the tcs have no voice and never will have a voice...turkey has seen to this long ago, hence why you are outnumbered...try passing something turkey doesn't want and see what happens...

a plan that leaves the door open for turkey is not a plan but a catastrophe for the whole island...

on the other hand if turkey was a modern democracy, prescribes to human rights and where the rule of law rules the roost, maybe a guarantee would be acceptble...but you and i know this a long way away...

funny thing is turkey let go of cyprus, she would have captured it, due to the close proximity, japan style, with trade...go fugure huh?...

Why are you so surprised? What was announced has always been our stance hence the 36 years of nothingness. This is not a new stance, it is you who don't want the solution because you insist on turkey have a strangle hold on Cyprus. You are all dreaming if you ever thought you were goinf to swing that by us. I thought the AP would have taught you something, but alas what can you teach an idiot.

I would say it has been a long time coming, where the idiotic RoC government have not yet stated their own red lines so that we are all crystal on everything.

if we agreed to Turkeys strangulation we would have been the laughing stock of the international community. I can just see it, STOP PRESS... Cyprus invaded and the invaders to get all legal rights all over the Island with the blessings of the victims. What a plonker!

You are not trusted thats why guarantees are important, you appear to be the idiot here with this vital element you have no chance of a solution, this declaration at this crucial and late stage in the talks now means the GCs have turned their backs on agreeing a solution...now watch the fall out.
