A painful compromise

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

He says 'we accept that'. Don't know who he means by 'we'.

Would have been more interesting if he'd given any idea at all of what this 'compromise' would be.

Maybe he means that those who think we can go back to where we were prior to 15/07/74 need to have a rethink.

Perhaps too many people have been led to believe that 'the solution' will mean everyone returns to their homes. Clearly, this will not be the case.

For those who are happy to accept compensation, yes, this will not be the case.

Or, of course, they might choose to rent their homes to someone else.

If you get repatriated to Turkey will you still need a guarantor?

why would i go to Turkey its you i dont trust to behave that why guarantees are necessary

Nobody can guarantee your safety if you’re a nuisance to Cyprus, or in any other country for that matter.

What, you want to live under an expensive protection scheme all your life? Why not just throw you out altogether? Problem solved!

TC's need to understand that there is no way GC's will ever accept Turkey as a guarantor in any solution, we tried it in the past and look where it got us. besides you do not need guarantors any more, we have made significant progress all this years as a community and the attrocities of the past done by GC's and TC's by eokaB and TMT cannot be done again

As much as I want to agree, many will think back to the atrocities in Bosnia not so long ago. And the whole world was watching, and they kept watching.

We need to work a way out of this catch 22. The majority of TC's want to see Turkey as their guarantor, at least in the first few years post solution. So why not negotiate and accept this status but with a condition that it ends after x years ?

We can then move on to other so-called red lines.
