HSBC and the UK Financial Services Authority

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Get rid of HSBC to make TCs suffer and force them into the hands of the RoC, however if successful would mean only Turkish banks remain. If that is the case then further integration with Turkey and distance from international markets and viewpoints. Therefore more intransigence and limited influence from the outside.

As for this comment
"The world economic crisis has been caused by the unscrupulous activities of unregulated financial institutions; that recognise no boundaries other than the pursuit of profit." Surely issues such as the ones faced by Greece should be addressed first such as doctoring the numbers for entry into the EU, falsifying statements of assets and liabilities, off-balance sheet endeavours etc. Or how about doing some really solid research into the money laundering in the RoC over the 20 years prior to EU entry of which Papad's firm was an integral player?
Try not to use issues that have little bearing to make your point - HSBC in TRNC is a commercial bank and does provide mortgages for non Turkish original title.

I am saddened when I see all the reasons under the sun heaped for the sole reason of taking opportunities for business away from TCs and making their lives more difficult. Mala, please do not try to hide your true reasoning with all the waffle.

It is this attitude which got Eroglu voted in. Yet they still do not get it.

Your recent comment that you are not on a crusade, just jotting off a couple of letters, leads me to the conclusion that you either have a personal grudge where HSBC are concerned or you really have nothing better to do!

It doesn't take very long and is simply a particular line of attack. HSBC happens to be the bank operating in the north.

I have pressed as much as I feel able.

I thought it had been concluded that it was the settlers who voted Eroglu in.

Concluded by whom?

I don't know any settlers. I do know quite a few TCs - all of them voted for Eroglu. They didn't give any 'cunning plot' reasons for doing so and didn't mention Turkey at all. Most said they were just fed up with 'nothing happening'.

Eroglu has his TC followers too, like his old comrade in arms and the people who benefited from his distribution of GC properties in the years following 1974.

Turkish banks will win this time all those money that HSBC was getting from TC’s. There are very large sums of money in this business. HSBC would get the harm not the TC’s or TC’s economy.very carefully. Turkish Cypriots are watching the movement of yours everyday that u don’t wanna give them to breath.Keep on doing this useless threats.
Results are showing rapitly how TC’s are changing their political directions in a such a way u will never like it. Keep on Malapapa..........

It's HSBC's support of unscrupulous business activities - exploiting land belonging to innocent Cypriot refugees - that is being targeted, not honest TCs, making an honest living.

I skimmed through the other threads discussing this. Wasn't that the conclusion?

I don't suppose much will happen now they've elected Eroglu, but time will tell.
