How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You've no idea how useless the UK FCA is, allowing some junior on the customer advice desk to score such a monumental own goal - and on FSA letterhead paper, too!

MP, I wonder if any of the liturature of the trashcan HSBC makes ref to being regulater by the FSA??? This would be another avenue.

So, what the FSA are saying a regulated bank in the west can operate an ilegitimate business in an illigegal state and still be considered to be 'OK' perhaps one of the tabloids would be better placed to followup on such a scandel.

I would like to hear the opinion of Mr Cadunas on this matter.

The Craig Doyle's Travel Tips slot on ITV's 'This Morning' Television show recommending a stay in one of the GC owned holiday complexes was not pre the Orams case. It was a couple of weeks ago.

I emailed them pointing out that Riverside Holiday Village, Kyrenia is in the Turkish occupied North of Cyprus (not mentioned). And that it is one of the GC owned hotels on the list of hotels illegally operated in the occupied territory.

I have had the 'we have forwarded this to the correct dept' robotic response. Nothing further though. I will let you know if I get a proper response.

ITV isn't exactly a small tinpot company.

Well done for pointing it out.

In actual fact, HSBC in the north, the Orams ruling makes clear, is regulated by the Central Bank of Cyprus which should, if it had any balls, now act to close down HSBC operations there.

HSBC, by virtue of having operations in the UK, is also regulated in the UK, and anywhere else in the world, where it trades.

B25... feel free to pursue whatever avenue you see fit. I think this could be major. No one likes banks at the moment.

Well as Candounas has specifically stated that next on the hit list will be people who stayed in GC owned hotels, I thought it was a bit irresponsible for a national TV corporation to be recommending people to do just that.

Here is what I emailed them:

Craig Doyle's Travel Tips this week featured Riverside Holiday Village, Kyrenia.

This holiday village is in the Turkish occupied North of Cyprus (not mentioned).

And is one of the hotels on the LIST OF HOTELS ILLEGALLY OPERATED IN THE OCCUPIED AREA OF CYPRUS

http://www.cyprusembassy.net/home/index ... ges&cid=45

In view of the recent ECJ judgement against the Orams for trespass on GC land, this seems rather imprudent to say the least.
Especially as Mr Candounas, the lawyer for the winning side has categorically stated that he has now been instructed to pursue British and other foreigners who stay in these hotels for trespass starting with the Dome Hotel in Kyrenia.

Sincerely
xxxx

Oh it's too bleedin' late to go look it up now (and a sci fi movie just starting lol!) but - I am sure I read that Bank of Cyprus DID remonstrate re the HSBC in the TRNC. But got nowhere?

You've probably already seen this but, there is lots of bumph here on the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce website about starting a Bank in the TRNC.

Do you think I made this public, simply for the likes of you to gloat over?

You'd be better of writing to ITV's viewer complaints as they'll be obligated to investigate and respond.

I know you are not asking the question of me but - no, I don't think you made it public for that reason.

I think you are genuinely interested to hear what they have to say and how they justify the current set up.

Bit daft to view it as a slap in the face - if it was all to do with Malapapa's EGO he wouldn't have posted their response at all would he?
