Puppy

Hey guys,

Can any of you give some advice on training puppies?

My Beagle is 6 months now and still dragging me all over the place! Took him for his first training class last week and the trainer gave me a halter harness which goes over his face, similar to what horses wear. He really doesn't like it, and just yesterday his lead came off so I won't be using it again...

I'm beginning to absolutely hate walking him because he's soo stubborn and never listens. When we're out its almost like I'm a total stranger to him sometimes. We do loads of training at home. He knows what all the commands mean, yet as soon as we step foot outside, it all goes out the window.

He's all over the place, pulling, going from left to right, walking in front of me...I've fallen over him so many times, and where he's quite strong its becoming a bit of a problem...

Anyone got any tips or advice?

Give him to some Koreans to train, you will never have another problem with him (they might get indigestion though).

Get a cat. They are less trouble. (Apologies for the sarcasm).

just got the kids a little pup mate....as expected its up to me to clean, train and feed the little shit.

read up a bit and it seems that its all about positive rewards, where you stress what he does right with a treat rather than rub his nose in piss like in the old days.

Every time he heels while I'm walking him he gets a treat....seems to work.

Gonna send him off to training camp though as I'm tired of seeing little spots of pee on my new rug.

I have had several dogs from pups I would always take them to a safe place and let them off the lead when I first got them, they are so nervous they stick to you like glue,I think yours has got to old to do this now he has to much confidance he will run off
