Genocide not "Genocide"

U.S. panel labels Armenian killings 'genocide'

By Wallace Witkowski

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- A U.S. congressional panel approved by a one-vote margin a resolution labeling the killings of Armenians during World War I by the Turks as a "genocide," according to media reports Thursday. The 23-22 vote by the House Foreign Affairs Committee is non-binding and must face a vote by the full House. Following the committee vote, Turkey reportedly recalled its U.S. ambassador from Washington.

Armenian genocide talk has Turkey threatening to expel Armenians

After politicians in the US and Sweden recently labeled the deaths of up to 1.5 million in 1915 an Armenian genocide, Turkey's Prime Minister Erdogan responded by threatening to expel about 100,000 Armenians living in Turkey.
