How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The Turkish Resistance Organization (Turkish: Türk Mukavemet Teşkilatı – TMT) was a Turkish Cypriot pro-taksim paramilitary organization formed by Rauf Denktaş and Turkish military officer Rıza Vuruşkan in 1958 as a defense organization to counter the Greek Cypriot Fighter's Organization EOKA. It is also claimed that to bring partition in Cyprus
In response to the growing demand for Enosis (union of Cyprus with Greece), a number of Turkish Cypriots became convinced that the formation of an ethnic-Turkish resistance movement was the only way to protect the interests and identity of the Turkish Cypriot population against a militant Greek Cypriot threat TMT used the symbol of the Gray Wolf (Turkish): Bozkurt.
TMT was active mainly between 1958 and 1974, promoting partition of Cyprus. It has been accused by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus of numerous acts of terrorism against Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots alike. TMT claims that their efforts were simply in response to a real threat against their community by EOKA, and after 1963, by the Cypriot Government (which by then was almost exclusively Greek Cypriot in makeup).
Members of TMT were responsible for the killings of left-wing Turkish-Cypriots and of Greek-Cypriots as part of a campaign of intimidation favoring partition. Members of TMT were also directly responsible for the outbreak of inter-communal violence in Cyprus during the summer of 1958 after two TMT members threw a bomb at the Turkish Ministry of Information in Nicosia The TMT was active on the 1963-64 Turkish mutiny.

Cyprus In its official website, the Cyprus government mentions EOKA as an organization that waged an "armed struggle" against the British.
United KingdomMedia in the United Kingdom referred to EOKA as a terrorist organization during the conflict but currently the BBC describes it a 'paramilitary organization'.
Northern Cyprus The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (an internationally unrecognized entity) recognizes EOKA as a Terrorist Organization.
Turkey The Republic of Turkey recognizes EOKA as a terrorist organization
United States Press in the United States of America referred to EOKA as a terrorist Organization during the conflict. However current press such as the New York Times refers to the organization as a 'guerrilla movement'.
End of Wiki segments.

Georgios writes below...

EOKA dissolved soon after the mission was accomplished.
TMT is still active.

Can someone explain to me why TMT is still around?
What is the purpose of TMT today? Who is leading TMT?
If EOKA was recognized as a terrorist organization what is TMT?
Will TMT remain active even when the Cyprus problem is resolved?
Is TMT still funded by mother Turkey? Does TMT play any role in Turkish politics? Is TMT another obstacle for Turkey to join the EU?

All the above questions are directly related to the Cyprus problem.

YFred & Ozlala,
Thanks for your comments. I was hoping to get an update on the status of TMT, especially from the TC side but I guess this is classified information.

I really hope you don't think 'Ethnos' was referring to Cyprus in that...

You need to stick to the issue at hand and refrain from jumping around like a rabbit on heat!

What is OFFICIAL is that both the DECLARATION and the OATH taken to join EOKA, do not suggest or even imply union with Greece.

Now, if SOME people (extreme right) thought OTHERWISE and had additional ulterior motives, then that’s their problem isn’t it? But it has NOTHING to do with EOKA and what it was officially set up to do.

If I were a brave Cypriot youth back then - although I don't have much truck with the concept of a "Holy Trinity" - I wouldn't have had too much of a problem signing up to this:

Oath of The Youth Organisation of EOKA

I swear in the name of the Holy Trinity that:

* I shall work with all my power for the liberation of Cyprus from the British yoke, sacrificing for this even my life.
* I shall perform without question all the instructions of the organisation which may be entrusted to me and I shall not bring any objection, however difficult and dangerous these may be.
* I shall not abandon the struggle unless I receive instructions from the leader of the organisation and after our aim has been accomplished.
* I shall never reveal to anyone any secret of our organisation neither the names of my chiefs nor those of the other members of the organization even if I am caught and tortured.
* I shall not reveal any of the instructions which may be given me even to my fellow combatants.

If I disobey my oath I shall be worthy of every punishment as a traitor and may eternal contempt cover me.

You are very welcome to walk into their offices in Lefkosa, it has a huge sign on it (VOLKAN), can't miss it. You are welcome to ask them as many questions as you like. They will give you honest answers. In the mean time we shall concentrate on removing this loving suffocation implemented by our GC cousins so that perhaps one day we may breath again, or was that breed again. One of them anyway.

I am writing this text from my office at Toronto, Canada. A bit far away from the VOLKAN offices. Do you think it would be possible for a GC to walk into these offices and start asking questions? Most unlikely. I was merely asking you guys for your honest opinion referring to the questions above. I don't think my questions are offensive but if you choose to remain silent I respect that.

Dude EOKA was extreme right at the core. Their membership was primarily well meaning people , but Grivas was fascist, not extreme right, fascist. He was a blackshirt in Greece during their civil war. Now, had we brought someone from the Communists my guess is it would have been a disaster for Cyprus a la Vietnam. EOKA was set up to implement enosis, after the GC petition organised by the Church. Now if we are going to hide behind blades of grass, that's a different story.

Look, when it comes to posting in the CyProb of the CF you’re expected to provide CREDIBLE EVIDENCE to back any allegations made, otherwise you’ll quickly get relegated to Y-Fronts level.

Your personal opinion of what you think EOKA was doesn’t count.

Something is drastically wrong here. In this documentation there is no mention of enosis and yet in the late 50's the phrase eoka enosis was clearly heard all the way in Lurucina even though I wasn't born yet. Who exactly are you guys trying to fool here. Eoka were fascist terrorist murderers who were hell bent on enosis and killed many TCs and GCs in that casue. The more you hide from that the more TCs will not trust you not now and not in the future. Accept the wrongs of you stance of the past and perhaps we may begin a meaningful discussion. Pretend to be stupid and there will be discussion.
