For gods sake, I thought the GC's were the majority of the population, running the majoruty of businesses and reluctant to employ TC's and creating unemployment and poverty, thats why they left.
You’re talking manufactured rubbish! From the Library of Congress…
Table 7. Turkish Cypriot Population
Year - Population
1921 - 61,339
1931 - 64,245
1946 - 80,548
1960 - 104,333

The TC population was steadily increasing so it’s back to uneducated grandpa for some more horror stories to justify their crimes!
Where I sit now I look up and see my Uncle who is visiting us from Canberra...He immigrated to Australia in 1952...Yesterday I took him to visit an old friend of his, another TC who came out in 1952...Tomorrow we are going to visit Mum's and Uncle's cousin who immigrated in 1951....
These people obviously do not appear in your statistics,GR!...but who knows they might be figments of my imagination...I can't give you a credible link either, they are not on the internet...Perhaps they all left Cyprus to advance Turkey's territorial ambitions...

You need to stick to the issue at hand and refrain from jumping around like a rabbit on heat!
What is OFFICIAL is that both the DECLARATION and the OATH taken to join EOKA, do not suggest or even imply union with Greece.
Now, if SOME people (extreme right) thought OTHERWISE and had additional ulterior motives, then that’s their problem isn’t it? But it has NOTHING to do with EOKA and what it was officially set up to do.

They were bunch of uneducated religious peasants fresh from mucking the cows and the pigs to murdering. Where's most of the TCs were descended from warriors and made perfect policeman for the Brits. Was there really any real choice? Besides which it was GCs who were killing women and children.
Sory Milti, you and your kind excluded.

Unless you don't accept people's right to self determination, you need to accept them as freedom fighters. Rightly or wrongly, they wanted the fate of Cyprus to be decided by the Cypriots- we asked nice first.
And the descended from warriors line is retarded. When the campaign started the Brits sacked a lot of well trained, loyal Greek Cypriots and replaced them with Turkish Cypriots as a wedge between them and the general population. This most certainly had a lot to do with increasing the bitterness between the two communities.
You'd also do well to remember that hawks in Turkey were demanding the 'return' of Cyprus to Turkey in the event the UK was going to pull out, before hostilities ever started.

EOKA (Εθνική Οργάνωσις Κυπρίων Αγωνιστών, Ethniki Organosis Kyprion Agoniston (Greek for National Organization of Cypriot Fighters) but sometimes expanded as Ethnikí Orgánosis Kipriakoú Agónos (Greek for National Organization of Cypriot Struggle was a Greek Cypriot nationalist military resistance organization that fought for the end of British rule of the island, for self-determination and for union with Greece (enosis).
The Turkish Resistance Organization (Turkish: Türk Mukavemet Teşkilatı – TMT) was a Turkish Cypriot pro-taksim paramilitary organization formed by Rauf Denktaş and Turkish military officer Rıza Vuruşkan in 1958 as a defense organization to counter the Greek Cypriot Fighter's Organization EOKA. It is also claimed that to bring partition in Cyprus
In response to the growing demand for Enosis (union of Cyprus with Greece), a number of Turkish Cypriots became convinced that the formation of an ethnic-Turkish resistance movement was the only way to protect the interests and identity of the Turkish Cypriot population against a militant Greek Cypriot threat TMT used the symbol of the Gray Wolf (Turkish): Bozkurt.
TMT was active mainly between 1958 and 1974, promoting partition of Cyprus. It has been accused by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus of numerous acts of terrorism against Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots alike. TMT claims that their efforts were simply in response to a real threat against their community by EOKA, and after 1963, by the Cypriot Government (which by then was almost exclusively Greek Cypriot in makeup).
Members of TMT were responsible for the killings of left-wing Turkish-Cypriots and of Greek-Cypriots as part of a campaign of intimidation favoring partition. Members of TMT were also directly responsible for the outbreak of inter-communal violence in Cyprus during the summer of 1958 after two TMT members threw a bomb at the Turkish Ministry of Information in Nicosia The TMT was active on the 1963-64 Turkish mutiny.
Cyprus In its official website, the Cyprus government mentions EOKA as an organization that waged an "armed struggle" against the British.
United KingdomMedia in the United Kingdom referred to EOKA as a terrorist organization during the conflict but currently the BBC describes it a 'paramilitary organization'.
Northern Cyprus The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, (an internationally unrecognized entity) recognizes EOKA as a Terrorist Organization.
Turkey The Republic of Turkey recognizes EOKA as a terrorist organization
United States Press in the United States of America referred to EOKA as a terrorist Organization during the conflict. However current press such as the New York Times refers to the organization as a 'guerrilla movement'.
End of Wiki segments.
Georgios writes below...
EOKA dissolved soon after the mission was accomplished.
TMT is still active.
Can someone explain to me why TMT is still around?
What is the purpose of TMT today? Who is leading TMT?
If EOKA was recognized as a terrorist organization what is TMT?
Will TMT remain active even when the Cyprus problem is resolved?
Is TMT still funded by mother Turkey? Does TMT play any role in Turkish politics? Is TMT another obstacle for Turkey to join the EU?
All the above questions are directly related to the Cyprus problem.
