What action should GC's take if the current talks fail?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I agree with everything you said.

Pyro, the anatolian will have no reason to come to Cyprus if there is no future, by allowing the TCs to work here we make room for them to work there. So by closing the crossing the TCs can go to VP,Yfred, Bir, Zan, Insan, Elko, and a number of others for financial support.

Why should we continue supporting these people if they don't want anything to do with us. They hate us, want us dead and we have to help them???

No my friend, it is time we took a harder line, because as sure as hell the would do it to us.

Eroglu, micky mouse, donald duck, all the same rubbish, Turkey is doing the talking, and until the TCs wake up to this they will always be no bodys even in the trashcan they think they have won.

The use of Eroglu to pressurise us will fail, we are not worried about him, in fact he may even be doing us a favour. dream on guys you end is nigh.

Sorry it's not like that. Those who take the jobs are seasonal workers coming from Turkey plus some of the local settlers and they work for half the money. You don't know how much the TCs have been exploited in prices and are still been exploited by monopolies in the occupied. The cost of living is about the same as ours, it is extremely difficult to survive even with the salaries that those TCs who work in the free areas get.
I am totally against doing that because to the best of my ability i can understand some of the TC suffering besides my own.
And i am not looking for revenge but for justice for all.

Sorry mate I dont give a hoot about the Tc's any more. They dont give a shit about us. They created the problem by inviting all the settlers. As the saying goes you made your bed now lie in it.

If they want to enjoy the same freedom's we do then they must comply with international law and give back our land. Stop all this rubbish they are spouting about 2 states. Where else in the world do you have the minority dictating to the majority.

They, they, they! Who the hell are they, they, they...

You remind me of those fanatic TCs ho come in here and say "they killed us they massacred us"

Sorry man I prefer to look at the person, at the MAN on an individual basis. Even if the basket is half rotten apples, there are the other half which are not. 8)

They are TC leadership along with the Turkish Goverment.

..and/or make a statement that no chapter opens or closes in Turkey's EU process until all troops and settlers are removed from the ground of the RoC

..maybe then the international community will start realising that this is about invasion and occupation and not a mere issue of "reunifying" the 2 communities and a solution "from Cypriots for Cypriots"..

I agree mate. This will then force Turkey to make a choice EU or Turks of Cyprus formally known as TC's.

A European Union member state cannot restrict the free movement of EU citizens. Closure of the crossings would be tantamount to recognition.

Turkey is not a European Union member state. Do you not see that denying access to Turkish Cypriots living in the north to the government controlled territory would amount to denying their status as RoC and therefore EU citizens, and would thus amount to recognising their status as TRNC citizens, and by extension to recognition of the TRNC? The only side that can shut the crossings is the north, and maybe it will happen under Eroğlu.

We can only hope as the TC's are taking the piss. Live on our land and then cross and work on our side.

If only roc had the balls to say they are going to do it, then do it, just to prove to you that they are unable to do anything of the kind. It's like asking a single piranha to eat a shark. It will be eaten and the shark will be lickin its lips afterwards.

But I really do think that the roc should shut the gates to prove to you that they cannot do that either, the EU will drop on to them like a tonne of bricks. Now do you realise that this joining the EU lark is actually a double edge sword which can lead to Hara-Kiri

For now, there is an ongoing negotiation and an RoC leader that is very "flexible".. when this fails because Turkey is not willing to compromise and the "carrot" approach is comprehensively proven wrong, then it is likely a hardliner will take over from Christofias.

I believe the latter will do just what I said, together of course with proposing a reasonable BBF plan that he can market throughout the EU, explaining that Turkey rejects this because she want to keep the "loot" of the occupation.

Rest assured that, if played well, Cyprus will not be alone in this.. there are many that will support it, if only the leader has the half-a-brain needed to align the RoC's interests with those of countries like France, Germany, Austria etc.

Cyprus is no longer the little goldfish the Turk-shark bit in 74.. it's now wearing an EU-plated shield and teeth and is likely to cut off the shark's bollocks if he tries it on again

If the RoC wants to raise the heat (in the scenario I described above), it will not need to close the gates as such.

It only needs to start arresting TCs who are illegaly using stolen property and doing an Orams on them.. do a few of these and the flow will stop in weeks..

Let's hope we do not need to go there..
