arrested development

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

arrested development

I am of the opinion that turkey'e EU accession is gonna backfire on her in the long term...

by this i mean their demands and expectations on cyprus will eventually show that turkey wants to enter the club on their own terms, something that will never happen...

it can be viewed, sooner than later even their supporters will abandon turkey...

this started when turkey got a date and started demanding from the start that they be treated differently from any other country...

turkey is playing with fire here as what she expect as a solution to cyprus could apply to her in the long term...someone down the line is gonna remind them of this, as they are facing social arrest within...with no end at sight...

could the cyprus negotiations be a test case on how much tukey can push the EU on deviations for herself in the future coz as it stands and it's quite obvious the EU Aquis doen't suit turkey.

The simple truth is that Turkey ain't entering the EU in the near future, if ever. They are well aware of this fact and see no need to appease Europe.

i think you need to look in the future and not today...today yes they have buckleys in entering...but even in the future if today they can score deviations from the eu aquis with precedents, tomorrow they will become handy...or even today...

Yeah, but the Annan Plan itself was a huge deviation from the EU Aquis which the EU itself was ready to accept. I haven't done any research about any other examples but even the the SBA's in Cyprus are not EU soil, thus not under EU law jurisdiction.

P.S: No government thinks about the future in Turkey, they live on a day to day basis and all on credit.

the annan plan was before the roc entered the EU...there was no eu aquis, but you can bet it would have been challenged in courts once in the eu...
