i think you need to look in the future and not today...today yes they have buckleys in entering...but even in the future if today they can score deviations from the eu aquis with precedents, tomorrow they will become handy...or even today...

Yeah, but the Annan Plan itself was a huge deviation from the EU Aquis which the EU itself was ready to accept. I haven't done any research about any other examples but even the the SBA's in Cyprus are not EU soil, thus not under EU law jurisdiction.

P.S: No government thinks about the future in Turkey, they live on a day to day basis and all on credit.

the annan plan was before the roc entered the EU...there was no eu aquis, but you can bet it would have been challenged in courts once in the eu...

I know that's why the TC's and TUrkey wanted any agreement to be part of EU primary law.

end of the day turkey is only after land bor bases...this is obvious...there will come a day when turkey will make peace with the roc for reduced land...where does that leave the tcs?...a unitary state where one man one vote with minority rights...take it or lump it turkey will say to the tcs...

I am not of the opinion turkey will leave cyprus...

The problem Boomers is that all the GC sides tactics are based on Turkey's aspirations to enter the EU. Now about your questions, after all this I don't think Turkey would reconcile with thr roc in exchange for bases, I can't see the GC side even offering such a deal. As to the subject of a proposed plan being accepted into EU primary law, if both sides could ever agree on a solution why not?

before the eu turkey's position was problem solved...today this is not the case...

the unification will be based on eu aquis, and nothing will get through till it meets this criteria...do not forget there are 27 members and rules apply equally...

the aquis is what binds all these nations together...

Time is on the side of the Cypriots, who have existed on the island for millennia before the modern state of Turkey - and all the other invaders before it ever reared their ugly head. And Cypriots will exist well after Turkey, its apologists and their deluded sense of adequacy, have disappeared also.

Malapapa, that is the most hopeless wishful thinking if ever I saw one. Everybody knows and accepts that it's the reverse. The longer this goes on, the more difficult the solution. However feel free to believe in the father Christmas. One day we may all be proved wrong.
