How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Which tourists flock to see it VP? It's virtually unknown outside Cyprus.

Some people have no sense of humour, canned would be around 500,000 per year and rising all the time, Azeris loved it....

Turkey (( * wrote:While you people moan all the time with Turkey "occupying" your countries and "torturing" you, let me moan about my own country!! Can anybody tell me what was happening before the Turkish Independence War?? We shed soo much blood for our country, we fought against the Italians, the French, The British, The Greeks!! These countries even signed a treaty dividing Turkey between themselves and leaving only Ankara for the Turks!! The Western countries have done this to us!! Why should we listen to what the Western countries say, after these things??? There is no reason!! Next superpower isn't Europe, it isn't USA!! We keep good relations with Asia and in a few decades, Europe will be like Asia ten years ago, with no power!!Don't you agree?? Or do you still believe that "the sick man of the world", Europe, will get better??

O Come on... Turkey has a far less than glorious past... Lets not forget about things like the Armenian holocaust... as must as it is denied it still happened. and theres is also what was done to the Pontian Greeks in a similar manner to the Armenians. Also what happened in Smyrni (Izmir), a city full of Greeks until the Turkish revolution hit it, burning it down and it's people forced to leave. Greece had to take in over one million refugees thanks to the way Greeks were treated in Asia Minor (with no thanks to the ethnic cleansing treaty of Lausanne)... but it doesn't stop there... there are things like the progroms against the Greeks of Istanbul leading to their eventual expulsion, even though the treaty of Lausanne said Greeks could stay there... not to mention the closing of the theological school of Halki, the bombs thrown at the Patriarchate. Oh, and the flying over of Greek airspace in the Aegean.

I'm not saying there is no anti-Turkishness in Greece, there definently is (and I highly disagree with such an attitude), but you make it seem like Turkey is a victim, when it is totally not.

And you make Greece seem like a victim!! One thing life teaches you adam, just in case it hasn't!! Everybody is a victim! Treaty of Lausanne is one of the base parts of Turkey, and just in case you have the smallest idea to destroy that, you will have to get past our dead body!! The Armenian genocide, I do not deny it AND I do not accept it, I need a solid evidence that I can believe as I've said this many times in this forum. What about the Greek planes flyingover Turkish territory and coming very close to water space of Turkey!! But if you open this kind of discussion, it will be endless and will provoke nationalist feelings and just make people enemies to each other!! So.....how you want it!!

adam 377

have you been to istanbul?

at is heart there is the covered bazaar, smack in the middle of which is a restaraunt, it is greek with greek flags all over it.

do you think this is just a token gesture?

or is there another explanation why the turks dont burn those greek flags, like the greeks recently burnt turkish flags?

Close to Athens!!I think you should post this in the Jokes and Enigmas part of the forum!! I really don't see why the Turkish planes don't bomb Athens while they are there!! What you say doesn't make sense Main_source! If they went until Athens they would bomb it, otherwise they would not go that far!!

Its a concrete fact that just after the Turkish foreign minister left Greece after having talks with its government last year....Turkish fighter jets were spotted flying over the island of Andros. Look at a map of Greece and find the island of Andros (basically the heart of Greece) and how close it is to Athens.

If you still dont belive me, I can try and dig up the news articles.

It is not that I do not believe you, the thing is by having a discussion on Turkish jets passed this border, Greek jets passed that border, you just provoke nationalist feelings and make people enemies!! I am sure you that all soldiers get very patriotic when they do their duty for their country! So they want to do something for their country and go in a dog fight with the country they see as an enemy. But the high ranked army officials know the delicacy on this issue and try to control the situation, but come on you have to agree that sometimes it gets out of hand!! But having a discussion like this will do harm than good!!

how is this discussion doing harm? im pointing out the facts...Turkish fighter planes consistantly cross deep into Greece's waters. There's crossing the border and then there is flying into the heart of Greek airspace.

In 2002, Turkish fighter jets even harrased a small passenger plane flying from Kos to Athens.
