I am not arguing that it was or was not. I am simply pointing out that the RoC including Turkish as a language on government documents and bank notes etc does not per se mean it is done as a gesture of goodwill. Such acts serve GC interests (by supporting their claim to be the government of all cypriots - a poltical agenda). That's all I was saying.

If Talat and Erdogan are genuine in their desire for a solution, removing or replacing the flag with something more suitable would be the easiest and most visible first step to demonstrate that.

I agree we should remove the flags but even if we did do you really think it would make any difference in GC demands for a solution? As a gesture of goodwill (which if happened would be slated by some GC on the basis that it should never have been there in the first place and removing it is not a gesture of goodwill) ok, but really this is a distraction imo.

Wrong Erol. It is symbolic gestures such as this which seem to count the most. The flags are the most visible sign of the division. The phsychological impact of their removal would be immense on both sides of the divide. A distraction it most certainly is not.

They dont understand why we should remove a flag.(for Turkey ofcourse)

Come on forum members lighten up, see it as tourist attraction, its the biggest flag in the world a record breaker and looks real pretty at night when its all lit up, tourists pay money and flock from all over the world just to see it and you guys see it all the time for free
