The TC flags on the road to Lefkosia...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Turkey (( * » Wed Jul 20, 2005 5:29 pm

Yes I agree that the TC side is bigger and all, but that comes from Turkey's past. And you cannot change the past, and you cannot change some things... When I say past, I mean the Turkish Independence War... The flag is just something you cannot change, the way it is used is the way it WILL be used...Sorry for the disappointment for those who are opposed to this idea...But please do not get this reply as a prejudice, I agree that this flag thing isn't helping much to the reunification

Moose,

The Greek flag you are talking about was done as a bet. The guy that owns that building had a bet with his mate that he would paint the side of his building with a greek flag if Greece won the Euro 2004 footie championship. They promptly did and so he painted his building. It was simply a celebration of the Greeks wining the Euro.

Just thought I'd give you the background to it and to put it into some kind of perspective.

That's the same story I heard mikkie. Still, if you don't know the story, you'd think it was there for other reasons would you not.

do you have pictures of that flags?

I made my army duty at Gökçeada(Imroz), and we have a flag like this too. (pictured at a mountain)

I think It is not related with cyprus.

i think everyone agrees that the portrayal of the VERY ORIGINAL and INDEPENDENTLY CONSTRUCTED TC flag on the mountain is a shame by all parties involved.

I wouldn't call it a shame as some people would naturally be offended but rather a negative point in the reunification process!
