How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Talat in Brussels

Speaking on his way to Brussels this morning, President Talat said he would ask Mr Buzek’s support for direct representation of the Turkish Cypriots at the Parliament and voice his expectation from the Parliament to encourage the Greek Cypriot Side – which has been enjoying unilateral EU membership - towards a solution in Cyprus.

TRNC President Talat meets with the President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek and the European Parliament’s Rapporteur on Turkey, Dutch MEP Ria Oomen Ruijten today.
On his meeting with Mrs Ruijten, the President said he would explain the Rapporteur that the inclusion of a paragraph concerning Cyprus into Turkey’s Progress Report is harming the Cyprus negotiations process.

Members of the European Parliament’s High Level Contact Group for Relations with the Turkish Cypriots are continuing their contacts on the island.

Yesterday, the Contact Group was received by President Mehmet Ali Talat.

Today, the delegation headed by vice-President of the European Parliament Libor Roucek meets with officials from the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce at working lunch in Nicosia.

In the afternoon, members of the Contact Group hold separate discussions with political parties in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
