As far as turkish economy and the Cypriot economy go, I can only give you facts that matter to me and my business. There's 240 Billion Euros deposited in Turkish banks providing liquidity, there's 40 BIllion Euros deposited in Cypriot banks providing liquidity in Cyprus.
That comes to about 50,000 EUros per Cypriot and 3,428 EUros per Turkish citizen.
Interesting figures, DT. Any ideas on banking liquidity/Greek citizen? I too hope they manage to make progress, and am pleased with the proposals outlined by Papandreou so far.
You will find that the average "Greek" citizen leech is also quite wealthy as they have big homes and drive expensive cars, and yet the country is almost bankrupt because these "Greeko" leeches are experts in tax evasion and corruption. They don't give 2 hoots about the Greek state and they don't give a damn about Cyprus because they are just a bunch of treasonous, defeatist and selfish leeches which are a liability....
So I am now adamant that Cyprus should go it all alone, because these leeches might end up sucking us dry!
I rest my case!
So why are you suggesting Greece sends 40,000 troops to Cyprus? This is nuts as you know very well. Greece has enough problems at the moment without attempting to right the wrongs of a historical legacy for which it can have no pride.
On the one hand you praise Brits for lack of total commitment to the EU superstate, but completely slag off Greeks for their contemptuous attitiude to their own government. Where's the consistency?
Why the recent anti-Greece stance? You used to be a Hellenophile!
Greece needs to take responsibility for what it did to Cyprus IMHO. Greece may have some economic dilemmas at the moment, but Cyprus has more than just fiscal problems, and Greece is predominately responsible.
I admire the Brits for their resistance to the EU, and their allegiance to their country and sovereignty which they don't want to abandon. Unfortunately for the "Greeks", they don't have any allegiance to either the EU and nor do they have any affinity to the Greek state. If they choose to bankrupt the nation's institutions, creating a free for all, then they can't be deemed Patriotic Hellenes because their allegiance is to their pockets and not to the well being of their nation!
I am a Hellenophile, even to this day. But you show me where all the Hellenes have gone, because from what I can see, they are an endangered species as most "Greeks" are barbarians and not Hellenic in the slightest.
There can never be any glory for Greece until they own up, take responsibility for their actions, and then perhaps do something constructive which will reverse the damage they did to Cyprus!
I think you'll find that it is wrong to blame 'The Greeks' when they were under the tyrrany of a military dictatorship at the time......
And you're kicking them now whilst they're down - have you or I had to bail them out yet? No, so let's see how the EU-approved policies work out.......
