If you believe the propaganda that having even a tiny amount of alcohol in your blood makes you a killer then I suppose it does...

If you believe in personal liberty and taking responsibility for your own actions then no, I don't suppose it does.

Trouble is CG is that 'nanny states' are born from the people that don,t know where the lines in the sand are, so the rest of us have to comply with the rules.

But yes I,m afraid that I believe that ANY alcohol in your blood can and does react differently under different circumstances and imo it is better to leave the driver drink free. You may know that for the first time in the UK a passenger has been given a jail sentence for 'not stopping' his women driver speeding after having a couple of wines, then ploughing into a young couple and killing them.

Well, I suppose you can look at it in a number of ways...

You obviously believe that the entire population should be punished or restricted because of the actions of a few...

I'd prefer the police to concentrate on catching the real criminals rather than criminalising the vast majority of the population for minor infringements. You may know that for the first time in the UK a driver was fined for blowing his nose...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/new ... -nose.html

Perhaps if the police were on patrol looking out for erratic drivers (like they used to) instead of parking outside pubs and breathalysing anybody that gets in a car they might have spotted the couple in your link and averted the tragedy...?

I was breathalysed after driving 55 in a 50 limit... I can't help but think it was more to do with revenue generation than traffic safety...

And was it a positive breath test

No, much to the disappointment of the officer I blew zero.

It was clearly an exercise in revenue generation - nothing to do with road safety....

By Law when asked to provide a road side breath test the officer must have first resonable grounds for such a request.

That is not the case when involved in a road traffic collision.

Well this one didn't!

He took the trouble of telling me that if I failed I'd have to leave the car and be carted off to prison for the night... :x

It was awful actually...

That is the case in the UK, but not in Cyprus.

If a rozzer wants to stop a motorist and breathalise him then whats the problem, the rozzer shouldnt have to have a reason to do so, if he can then he jolly well will.
if a motorist is against it then he is either guilty or doesnt respect what the rozzers have to do.
so friggin what, if your stopped and have been drinking too much then its the motorists hard luck and should have respected the law.
if i was told on the other hand by a cop that if i didnt take the test and it wasnt the law in that particular country im afraid to say i would of kicked him in the nuts

What is the point in quoting yourself and then not commenting on it?
