You worry too much. Relax and look forward to your visit. Even if you do get lost, you'll come to no harm. Most car rental companies give you free maps of all the towns anyway so you'll be coolio.

Anyway, getting lost is the best way to find your way around! :D :D

Hey there,

When you get your rental car there will be a big map of cyprus typically in the glove compartment.

All the road signs in the south are in Greek and English so you can't really get lost unless your weaving in and out of one of the main towns inner streets.

I would suggest the "AA Essential Explorer" for Cyprus. It will cost you £12.99 and includes everything to do and see in the whole of Cyprus with detailed maps of each area. It's a fantastic guide, highly recomended.

fragile - you should get a map from your hire company also call or write to the Cyprus tourism office in London & they will send you maps and booklets / pamphlets free of charge. You do not give your location but I am assuming it is UK. If you get lost at night up a mountain, drive downhill. To be serious I have, and I know the Island very well, but at 0100 hrs I was at Episcopi village (not the Garrison) middle of nowhere, roads to nowhere & headlights that only shone into the night sky. The other half was not impressed in fact rather concerned with visions of going over 1000 foot drops. Make sure you have perfect brakes including handbrake. Other than that stick to named roads (I took the ever famous shortcut) and you won't go far wrong. Drive carefull & expect the unexpected from other drivers. Have a great time.

Fragile, as the others have said your car hire company will almost certainly provide you with a map with (just) enough detail to get you started. Larger, more detailed road maps are on sale at most souvenir shops and kiosks (sort of 24Hr mini marts) in the tourist areas.
Be aware that some of the minor roads marked on the map are dirt or gravel tracks. The maps describe them as 'loose surface roads'. Most are passable with care in any car but a 4X4 makes 'em more fun! I mention this because it is easy to think you have taken a wrong turn when the tarmac ends and the gravel starts.
Don't worry, you will be OK
