Creeping recognition, Freudian slip or poke in the eye?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Nothing of the sort happened  ... Here's the Official version:

Reply by the UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon at the dinner hosted, yesterday, in his honour by the President of the Republic, Mr. Demetris Christofias

01/02/2010

Your Excellency, President Christofias, Madame, Honourable Members of Parliament, Honourable leaders of the political parties, Mr. Foreign Minister, distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,

It is a great honour and pleasure for me to be here in Cyprus for the first time. And thank you very much for your very kind welcome.

I am here to reiterate the UN’s continued support for the peace process in Cyprus. I attach great importance to your current efforts to resolve this longstanding issue.

From the beginning, this has been a Cypriot-owned and Cypriot-led process with the Cypriots taking responsibility for reaching a settlement.

I am impressed by the enormous personal commitment which you, Your Excellency, have shown to finding a settlement to this longstanding problem. You have been given a clear mandate by the people to solve this issue. And you are delivering. You have made significant progress. Together with Mr. Talat, I am confident that you can bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion. To bring this successful conclusion to a mutually acceptable way will require confidence, vision, and flexibility as well as a spirit of compromise.

A settlement of the Cyprus problem will create enormous opportunities for this country. It will also have a positive impact on the wider region. And as your Excellency knows, the international community has high expectations for your efforts, and it supports you.

The United Nations strongly supports these continued negotiations which you have been carrying out. Now, more than ever, I believe that a mutually beneficial solution is within reach, it is possible despite the numerous obstacles and challenges along the way. It will be a tremendous achievement.

Together with my Special Adviser, Mr. Alexander Downer and his team, we are here to do everything we can to assist you in the process.

The future is in your hands. I wish you every success in your endeavour.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

Let us join together in a toast for the great prosperity and everlasting partnership between the United Nations and Cyprus. And above all for a future united Cyprus.

Well said. Do you think the outlaws got the message?

Christofias face was kissing his arse, think he took the message hard. He didnt even greet the Korean at the door, speaks volumes.

Sorry. I don't follow. What message?

They lubricated that idiot Downer my friend. They 've been doing this thing from the very first day he arrived here, we should have kicked him out of here a long time ago...

Do you know that we have agreed on a list as to where Ban Ki Moon would go, who he should meet etc? Instead Downer himself drove the poor Korean directly to the "trnc presidential palace". DOWNER HIMSELF!!! UNBELEIVABLE!!! Throwing into the dustbin whatever he himself has agreed to do! Violating his own signature!

In there the gave the poor Korean a speech calling Talat "his Excellency" and Christofias "Mr Christofias"

UNBELEIVABLE!!!

Really not sure what to make of this, Pyrpolizer. What purpose, other than for domestic consumption by ravenous gullible-types like Halil, would playing out such a clumsy charade serve?

If there is evidence that the UN representative in Cyprus has been bribed in some way by this organised crime syndicate it ought to be presented to the world and maximum capital made from it.

The evidence is there my friend. DOWNER himself step out of the UN white Mercedes , and he himself guided the poor Korean straight tothe "trnc presidential palace"! Its all video taped.

Notice Christofias had in hand a written agreement with the UN in Cyprus, as to where the meetings at the occupied would take place. The poor Korean did not know where the hell they were taking him, Downer however knew very well. What a hypocrite and then he had the audacity to make a public statement.

What purpose would it serve you ask?
Think: UNSG. The head of the Organisation who calls all countries to avoid any action aiming to recognition of the illegal regime...
Go a few posts back and read halil's reply to my "once in 5 years" message...
Then you will realise its importance.
What a FIASCO!!

Ban Ki Moon is a terrible user of the English language. He is even worse than George Bush, if that's possible, but he is. Moon only reads, barely at that I may add, what ever his aids give him to read. I really do not even know whether he understands what it is that he is reading or that he can even write in English. I'm not saying he is stupid, but he has a very poor knowledge of the English language, booth in speech and in written form, therefore, I wouldn't make too much on what he read to mean anything significant what so ever.!
