ARCHBISHOP Chrysostomos II has called on the Christian flock to keep vigilant and be wary of efforts to impose an unfair settlement on the Greek Cypriots.
In his Christmas message, the Prelate points out that “a plan is afoot in the next few months and left to understood by various directions that the plan will be worse than Annan Plan which rightly the Greek Cypriots rejected'.”
A reunification plan that does not provide for a just, viable and workable solution to the Cyprus issue should not be put to a referendum because it will be rejected, Chrysostomos adds.
If the solution that will be proposed, he says, is worse than the present situation, then “we must endure because the acceptance of a worse solution would legalize the situation and will not be reversible.
“Concessions do not lead to any compromise,” Chrysostomos notes.
The Archbishop goes on to warn that “Turkey is trying to legitimize its illegal plans for Cyprus and uses the talks to deceit Europe and the whole world.”
In closing, Chrysostomos extends his wishes for freedom for Cyprus in 2010 and calls on refugees, the enclaved and the relatives of the missing persons to be patient.
