100.000 armed reservists and 12.000 GC army, even if you had 200.000 you would not attack it would be the end of Cyprus as we know it, Turkey has at its diposal 1 million men. No one can be that stupid to think they can attack Turkey and win espeically not the little "RoC".

exactly so why do the troops need to be here? your saying that 75km away from cyprus means the turkish army wont be able to do anything?

if gcs wont attack you now why would they attack you with a 70 million population army 75km north of here

security? this is not 30 years ago when there was so much violence. the troops are just as effective from 75km away then right here on our island.

you never know thats why we have to be positive and not spread hate and learn to live together. imo there is no need for the troops to be here. no real need.

But Palio, that is not what Muhtar X is asking for. He wants the guarantee to be removed so if the GCs attack, Turkey will have no right to defend the TCs. 99% of the TCs will not accept that. The Turkish army will go as soon as the peace agreement is signed.

what gives them any more right when they are here on the island and ignoring laws telling them to leave?

and the chance of gcs trying to attack is... 0

and i hope it is soon we sign a deal we both accept .. but not like the bannana plan where they wanted some troops permanently on the island like turkey will probably try have in the deal

How about getting rid of your own army and 100.000 armed reservists at the same time?

Lets do it simultaneously. We'd agree to it on the spot. Has been offered many times VP. Whats your excuse now?

Similar to the 60's when you agreed to keep 900 Greek soldiers on the island.
Sign the peace agreement and put in there, and see what you get next time you break it.

as opposed to your 600 turks that suddenly became an occupying force of 40,000 and are still here after 3 decades?

You're so far away from hypocrite you can probably see your own backside by now yfronts.

Why are you so disingenuous. The Turks came to Cyprus because you removed an elected president an put a killer as president. What the hell did you expect Turkey to do, send him a bunch of red roses. Answer the question, what the fuck was 10000 Greek soldiers doing in Cyprus, under which clause of the constitution?

You show me where in the treaty of gaurantee does it give any country occupying power over Cyprus and the right to compromise its sovereignty for over 30 years you imbecile.

Please explain to the forum how did the 10000 Greek soldiers suddenly materialize in Cyprus. You are such a stickler for agreements and international law, surely there can only be one reason. It was in the constitution but was written with invisible ink, no?

Greece staged a coup d etat on this country while under the junta. Whats Turkey's excuse for occupying Cyprus till now?

You are avoiding the question. The question has nothing to do with the coup. In the sixties there were 10000 greek soldiers in Cyprus. How?

Becuase if they go they cannot come back without an agreement between us allowing them to return which you people are against. You dont attack now becuase they are here and have the ability to bring in more troops if necessary, how would you feel if they went and innocent TCs started to dissapear or die due to lack of protection by GC soliders?

well by putting extra security and allowing a small number of turkish troops to stay for x amount of years or months..

and also a good amount of eu or un troops as they are here. and they would not be needed

I have changed my position on this. A number of troops from Turkey, perhaps as many as a few thousand, ought to be detained on the island, on a trial basis. They will remain for up to 25 years in some cases.

A special facility will have to be built to contain them all but it'll look something like this:
