My last thread and last post.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

My last thread and last post.

Postby Expatkiwi » Sat Jan 30, 2010 7:34 am

This is my last post of any kind on the Cyprus Forum. After a lot of abuse and mug-flinging (and my retaliations against that which went my way), I realized that being on the forum wasn't doing anything more than giving ammunition to those who opposed my point of view. The forum - at least the part pertaining to the Cyprus Problem - has degenerated to a state to where proper debate on the Cyprus Problem has become impossible. I've made my point of view known, and to continue to push it is doing nothing more than providing certain members an excuse to defame, abuse, and threaten.

Therefore, I will be saying goodbye. To those who supported me, I thank you for doing so. To those who opposed me, yet supported my right to air my views, I thank you as well. To the others, I guess you'll have to direct your energies to some other person on the forum you happen to disagree with. I won't apolgize for my views regarding Cyprus as I'm still convinced I chose the right side.

I also want to thank those who had communicated with me in order to provide condolences for the loss of my son Jared, who died - after a vehicle crash had left him brain dead - last June. Needless to say, it has been very hard on my wife and I.

I leave this final note: I hope that the Cyprus Problem can eventually be solved. Goodbye.

Dean Thomas.

It can, and it will. Lies and propaganda are soul destroying and difficult to sustain. You tried hard, but the stress you have suffered was clouding your "judgement".
In this way, you are like a guinea-pig for what will happen on a larger scale with Turkey.

So, in future, worry less about perceived "integrity" and loyalty for "friends" made in haste, and more about basic rights and wrongs.

PM to follow when I have time ...

So you expect some sympathy now, heck you have a cheek boy!

It is not your views that were opposed, it was the constant face rubs you were dishing out, how else did you expect people to react? You suffered a loss, we are sorry for that, no parent should bury their child, but like boomers said, did you ever stop to consider the children the GCs lost when you were throwing flags and TC slogans in our faces??

You want to debate thats fine bring it on, but don't expect a debate on one liners and insults buried in your first letter word games. I think you are as guilty as the rest of us.

So bye bye and good riddens, we don't need external manipulators, we have enough of them.

B25, you chum in the sun.

Nooooo!!! I've only just joined...who will watch my back now, and tell me i'm clever???
I do understand you leaving though...there really is only so much abuse one can take. As i am still only a newbie here, i had no idea about your son, to which i am so very sorry about, and my thoughts are with you. Only time will help you though...and i wish you lots of it, and maybe one day in the future when your pain has faded slightly, you will come back to say hi...

You will be missed xx

A few days back you posted that on this forum there are 7 or 8 people , I think if not mistaken , whom you found agreeable, I could be wrong but I would think that one of those members could possibly be my self.
I strongly oppose your views on partition just as I oppose any views that drive the wedge of division deeper in . Those that are perpetuating the myth that somehow a holocast was taking place in Cyprus prior to Turkey invading , have one and one one purpose that is the permanent division of our island and our people. Numerous T/C friends that I have , and proud to have them , Deniz being one of them , all tell me that above all else they are Cypriots , just as I'm , if all felt the same there would not be any majorities or minorities in Cyprus.
I'm first to admit and condemn the extremists that are still continuing their catastrophic activities are those that have either Greece or Turkey as their perceived motherlands , the recent demo in memory of Georgios Grivas I approved of , but the Greek flags and the shoulds of Cyprus is Greek made my blood boil.
Expat , you have contributed very little to the reconciliation process , something that we have seen , albeit on a small scale , but in reasonable numbers on this forum.
My best wishes

Hello Daisy May
I had a go at Expat this morning with Boomerang, basically for calling Oracle a Whore and a Bitch. No doubt Oracle will tell me she doesn’t need me to defend her honour but in my mind there is no need to use language like that no matter how different opinions are. Although I may not see eye to eye with you or your opinions I would never revert to name calling and personal insults; even though he did refer to me as a Retard.
I do very much sympathise with the loss of their child; I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy and again never use it to try and score a point. Possibly Expat will read some of comments made and learn by his mistakes and come back on with constructive criticism instead of continuously winding up people with his one liners.

Why do some people feel it necessary to flounce and 'announce' their 'departure' from an internet discussion forum? If you don't want to use it any more, just stop posting on it.

If your contributions are sorely missed, there will be some who will ask where you've gone to.

Personally, I think it is done to draw in protestations about their departure and count the number of supporters they have!

On a lot of forums this sort of thread is known as an 'AST' = Attention Seeking Thread.

Boomerang, why on earth would i want to be called a whore?? Also, what is antagonistic about about putting xx...it's the Cypriot way of greeting and saying goodbye...really...this is so stupid and such a waste of time, do you really have nothing better to do with your time??? All i was doing was wishing him well...please don't try and make more of this and leave me alone!
