Most people I speak to outside of Cyprus are not really sure where Cyprus is on the map! Some seem to think it is almost 'attached' to Greece, and even more that it is very close to Malta (I think that's because Travel Agents brochures tend to lump Malta and Cyprus together).

Most are really surprised (especially my merikan mates) to find out its proximity to Lebanon, Iran, Egypt etc. I once tried to buy something on eBay and got a response from the seller to say 'We dont ship to Third World Countries' lol!

On another forum (UK one) I mentioned how much less my Road Tax cost here and someone commented 'well it wouldn't be much would it - where you don't have any roads?'

I am sure Cypriots who live overseas know where it is! I am also sure they take an interest in Cypriot affairs. I am also sure that the vast majority of people outside Cyprus have no knowledge of, nor interest in, Cypriot matters.

I've met very few who even know the island is divided. And, when I asked a pal last week what they thought about the Orams Judgement, they said they hadn't seen or read anything about it on the news and knew nothing about it.
