Turkey has already partitioned as much as she possibly could but can take it no further. If there was anything else she could do she would’ve done it ages ago.

Now, FORMAL partition; which equates to the recognition of a separate state, can only come about if the RoC was stupid enough to sign away her rightful territory, so any efforts to prove or disprove a good or bad coexistence of communities are a complete waste of time.

Do you see Christofias signing part of the island to Turkey? I dont. He would follow Saddam.

It would take a very stupid government that has also received the approval of the very stupid public!

You’re better off playing Lotto!

As I thought. Ones dancing the sirtaki and the other doing the halay.

Hopeless.

I think they both are going for stalemate/status quo. That way it serrves Turkey and others - and huck the people.

In any case, I must have not got the memo informing me that the National Geographic Atlas had usurped the authority of the United Nations to determine sovereignty.

No, the word TURKISH is not used, but interestingly, there is no side comment in red, which is normally used by National Geographic on countries or territories under dispute.

I understand your logic though do believe you give them both too much credit. VP is an out and out partitionist and no matter what was on offer to people of that mindset it would never be enough. He wants his “Little Turkey” on the island of Cyprus and nothing is going to stand in his way(except perhaps the logic of Palio). The type of person he represents doesn’t want democracy because it would mean that the Turkish Cypriots are a voting minority even though everyone would be equal in the yes of the law. Expat on the other hand is an enigma; he lives in “the land of the free and the home of the brave” but doesn’t support democracy which is supposedly so dear to the people of the US of A but chooses to support a system where the minority call the shots.
I actually like the flag but I don’t like the way the VPs of this world use it to rub the noses of the Cypriots in the dirt with it. No doubt he will be replying saying that the GCs did this and the GCs did that but he can only tell a second hand story because he never experienced it; not like yourself or Bir, Zan or Yfred. I’ve found that the people who actually experienced these terrible times are more philosophical about it than the younger people who appear to hate because they’ve been taught to hate.

There is no dispute - everyone except the occupier agrees that the occupation is illegal and that tnucland is not a legitimate entity.

I repeat my earlier question: when did the National Geographic Atlas become an authority on national sovereignty?

Since I know you're not going to answer, I'll answer it for you: the National Geographic explicitly states that it does not consider itself to be an authority on national sovereignty:

National Geographic Maps Policy wrote:In keeping with the National Geographic Society’s 121-year chartered purpose as a not-for-profit scientific and educational organization, the Society’s cartographic policy is one of portraying the world from a de facto point of view

http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/maps/maps-policy.html

And while they do show a "border" across the island, you have coincidentally neglected to mention that they have retained the original Greek names for every single town and city in the occupied north:

http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/maps/map-machine#s=r&c=35.144617052935146,%2033.30368041992188&z=9

Sooooooo....fuck you and your pole-smoking queen!

Thanks for your reply Jimski.

We are all on a steep learning curve. In my youth (actually student days in Cyprus) we all shouted the usual slogans including the one, 'Cyprus is Turkish, and shall remain Turkish'. Hucking Fell, where did that come from. I came from a mixed village (no Turkish/Greek sector) - I should have know better.

Sorry, I am off to lunch.

A surprising jump in the poll. Why am I not surprised. I expected the TC vote to be not more than 7.

Someone has been very very busy.
