Do not confuse nationhood with statehood. Plenty of nations without states have their own flag i.e. Uighurs, Palestinians, Tibetans etc. To deny the TRNC flag could be interpreted by some as denying Turkish Cypriots to their own sense of nationhood, which though you may disagree with, is still entirely their right.

Do not confuse a nation with a territory that has been annexed by force and declared illegal under international law.

The Palestinians and Tibetans are victims of aggression. They have not declared a state on territory which does not legally belong to them.

I am not confusing it, you are. The TRNC flagis not simply the flag of a state, or self-proclaimed state if you like, it is for many the flag of Turkish Cypriots themselves, including those thousands of miles away in the UK, Australia and Canada.

Don't try to bracket the T/Cs in with displaced and occupied peoples struggling for nationhood. There is nothing noble about a community squatting on occupied land attempting to benefit from the systematic ethnic cleansing of others. In fact, I can't think of anything as low or self-degrading.

These are the consequences of trying to force the partition of the island. If you jump from a cliff and you brake your legs you shouldn't blame the law of gravity, you should blame yourself for ignoring the law.

Any day you decide you can stop the illegalities, return to us our land, get back your position in Republic of Cyprus, and enjoy your rights as equal Cypriot and EU citizens. But if you continue to choose illegalities then you have only yourselves to blame for the consequences.
