It'll provide no other benefit to the EU that isn't already had today with the customs union.

Turkey is required to enter the EU by the UK, the US the Danes and all those other countries that do not want a strong centralised federal Europe. The diversity in laws and society that will be introduced if Turkey joins the EU will all but kill the dream of a united Federal EU acting as one country.

I' not sure which I prefer though. Centralised union with Turkey out or loose association EU with Turkey in. :?
