That's just a label just as "Greek Cypriot" is a label. Prior to the emergence of the Muslim Ottomans there was no such thing as a "Greek Cypriot", as everyone was just a “Cypriot” but social and political "needs" gradually coined labels to differentiate between Christians and Muslims on the island.

It was a very poor choice of a label in the case of the Greek Cypriots, as history was to later prove.

Turks were never known as Cypriots but Cypriots were always known as being Greek!

Get Real is a GEEK Cypriot.

A Cypriot
A Greek Cypriot
A Turkish Cypriot

Why do some cypriots claim to be either one of these?
most cypriots I know claim there identity to be cypriot and dont really give a toss about greece.

"Cypriot" is a nationality (c.f. British).

Greek or Turkish or Armenian etc are ethnic group identifiers.

Oracle I admire how in such little words you make everything so simple and understandable.
