Deeds in Owners Name?

Postby Gasman » Mon Jan 25, 2010 12:04 am

I noticed that one big Northern Cyprus Estate Agent has started putting those words into the titles of almost all their property for sale in the TRNC.

'Deeds in Owners Name'

or (but not as many)

'Pre 1974 Deeds'

Now as they also have a one or two properties that actually state 'Pre 1974 Turkish Title Deeds' and those properties cost about 3 x as much as those mentioned above, it's obvious that these do not refer to Turkish Title.

So what's the point of this? Is this meant to reassure prospective buyers in some way?

Another one I was looking at is quoting the ANNAN PLAN all over the place (spouting about how it all complies with or in agreement with AP) to reassure potential purchasers that all is well lol! Then, right at the bottom of the page, they have a little bit saying 'although the Annan Plan was never implemented....'

Pre and Post Oram Deeds - Yes!

But Deeds 'in Owners Name' is pointless - unless it is the real (or 'original' owner?) owner and unless they are the real deeds!

It was said to me some few years ago now (by a reputable TC Estate Agent - yes they do exist! Or, at least, I know of the existence of ONE, that:

"there is no such thing as 'exchange deeds" - that they are recognised by no one other than those who came up with the idea, and that they would, one day, come unstuck.

Even back then there were Buyer Pressure Groups forming on the Internet, complaining about and naming TRNC Property Developers, Estate Agents, Builders, Advocates.

All the warning signs were there and could easily be found.
