What fanatics? No one has advocated killing lawyers apart from you.

Viewpoint wrote: but our victory has not been pushed into everyones face as to cause discomfort, you GCs are using this as a PR campaign to thawt property sales in the TRNC, this will make many people unfortable and when this happens you know what follows,

Criminals on the run are desperate; we know that. But does that mean we give up the chase?

Viewpoint wrote:you cannot be that stupid as to have not forseen the result of your own actions. Hold onto your hats it gonna be a very very bumpy ride.

It'll be like one of those Starsky and Hutch car chases... a few trash cans get knocked over, a shop window gets smashed and then.... handcuffs on and off to jail.

Mark my words as you yourself stated the Orams case will kick in a few weeks you should be prepared for the reaction it will bring out in the fanatics who are looking for any excuse to create situations to prove we cannot live together. You have to always calculate the result of your own actions, if you make yourself into a target people with try to shoot you down.

No one else but you was targeting the lawyer for retribution last night. And now you're denying it? What does this make you - if not both?

If we are so good at this political war, and since you are under the impression we are winning this political war, then please tell me when the TA will withdraw. Perhaps never?

Sorry Milti, but this political war is only played out on Turkey's terms and we will lose. Politicians are taking you all for a ride.

Did you say superficial !!!!
Paphitis , since the invasion of 1974 the most historically important day in the entire history of Cyprus has been the entry into the EU , the second most important date that will go down in history is the confirmation by the EC and the Royal Courts of Justice that only the RoC is considered the legal sovereign power in Cyprus.
The political battle that was won on Tuesday the 19th will have repercussions far more poignant that has so far been imagined .
I maintain that the large majority of T/Cs do not support the sale of G/C properties and those T/Cs with properties in the RoC can now take comfort that their legal status as the owners of such properties is guaranteed by the EC and all other Judiciary the world over.
Our T/C compatriots will rejoice knowing that justice has been carried out , their properties are safeguarded as indeed they should be.

Yes Milti. It's all superficial in terms of a solution to the Cyprus Problem.

May I also remind you that I too have an ECHR case filed, but am under no illusion as to the futility of this "political war".

Paphitis , don't make a fool of your self mate , None on this forum would agree with you that Tuesdays outcome is merely superficial and futile !
Tell this to Mr Apostolides who fought for almost 5 years , tell him he has wasted his time , tell him that the results are meaningless .
I told you before that although I can see a lot of goodness in you I can also see a lot of immaturity . The outcome has been an historical event that will be celebrated with the same fervour as March the 25th.

Prove it, you cant because I never said I want him dead but voiced my opinion that he will be a target for fanatics of which I am not one.

If you have any integrity you will apologise.

Viewpoint. The time of kowtowing to fanatics is over. They will have to be dealt with; sooner rather than later. Cyprus 2010 isn't Chicago circa 1920. We can't be intimidated into not applying the rule of law because gangsters won't approve. Don't you agree?

13,963 posts proves otherwise.

"Viva la "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus"" - outlawed by the UN Security Council, High Courts, the ECHR and the ECJ proves otherwise

I personally agree but fanatics do not and only do their worst whne frustrated or backed into a corner which triggers off emotions in the whole community to a point of wholesale conflict, you have to start thinking about the larger bigger and the results of your actions, you cannot throw a grenade into the crowd hoping it will only kill the guilty innocents will also get killed in the process but yuo have to live with the fact that it was you who throw the grenade and not the people in the crowd.

You owe me an apology.

It wouldn't hold water if challenged outside the Republic.

If anything it should be extended to 5 years before a TC can sell property in the unoccupied area otherwise many will take advantage of the situation and sell off just to live happily ever after in the occupied territory while their GC counterparts can’t enjoy the same rights.

Get Real makes what is simply a racist proposal. He is saying that a citizen who has committed no crime should be prevented from lawfully selling his/her property unless s/he has lived in a particular area for 5 years. One might have a residency qualification for real estate sales (there are arguments for and against this) but Get Real's only grounds for the application of this rule is that of ethnicity. In other words this rule of Get Real only applies to TCs. So much for the much vaunted claims of equality and human rights !

Copper, in view of the fact that the GC properties in the occupied north are approximately 3.5 times more in size, than the the corresponding TC properties in the south, and in terms of perspective (long-term potential) real estate value they are estimated to be around 6-8 times more, mainly due to the large proportion of coastlines under occupation; and also, in view of the fact that there is a likelihood that TCs may reside in the north and continue exploiting usurped GC properties, while at the same time cross south, take possession of their own properties and sell them for big money; how do you as a big lawyer suggest we GCs better deal with this issue? (Issue of double bidding I mean.)

Unless you believe in collective crimes and collective punishments, unless you also believe that an innocent person should be made to pay for the crimes of another, then Get Real's type of proposal is simply racist. It does not treat individuals as individuals responsible for their own actions, but loads the actions of unknown others on to their shoulders.

It is really very straightforward, Kifeas. Just because a GC has committed a crime it doesn't mean that you, because you are also a GC should be charged with that crime.

How else do we take on gangsters? When have any of these "innocents" (who nevertheless directly or indirectly benefit from the activities of gangsters) ever stood up to these gangsters? No, innocents like you threaten the free world with these gangsters. "Don't apply the rule of law here," you say. "Our fanatics won't like it and will murder your lawyers."

Viewpoint wrote:You owe me an apology.

Give it a rest. You were targeting a law-abiding lawyer (who also, as it happens, represents TCs) for retribution by fanatics, simply because he has ensured the rule of law must apply in the north, and I should apologise to you?

You apologise for making someone a target, you sneak.

Copper, I only asked your qualified expert advise as a prominent international lawman, as to how the GC side should address the issue of potential double bidding /dipping, as I described it above. Nothing else!
