Morphou was attacked and taken over by Turkey's military during the invasion of the island in 1974. As a result all its Christian population was forced to leave their homes and seek refuge in the free areas still under the control of the Republic of Cyprus.

Since then, Turkey's occupation force and the illegitimate regime established in the north prohibits the return of the refugees. Instead, Morphou has been resettled by Turkish Cypriots as well as thousands of settlers from Anatolia.

It's rained a lot recently, or something, and the town was flooded.

So you deserted your homes.

No, they are still there!

If they were still there, this "flooding" would never have happened.

The Turks must be the most stupid beasts alive. Even Otters and Beavers have more brains than you!

How stupid are you. Beavers create floods by their activities without it raining, where did you say you got your degree from?

Work to clean up streets, homes and businesses in the Guzelyurt region which was hit by a flood disaster last Monday - is continuing.

Special teams are cleaning the mud off the roads at several points in Guzelyurt and the Bostanci village.

Work vehicles are being used to support the clean-up efforts in disaster-affected areas.

The Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Turgay Tokel toured the region today for on the spot inspections.

Teams from the Guzelyurt Social Services Department accompanied the Minister during the visit.

Meanwhile, donations are being distributed to flood victims in line with data collected by damage assessment committees while the Guzelyurt Social Services Department is contributing to the fundraising efforts.

And, the aid campaign, `We are with You, Guzelyurt` which is being coordinated by the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation is continuing.

Turkcell and Telsim mobile owners can support the campaign by sending an empty text message to 4142.

You mean it's been a week and the street is still under water? What on earth are all those Turkish soldiers doing? Sitting on their backsides smoking hashish? Get them to work and stop wasting everyone's time.
