So, if we had to have any Turks back, it doesn't matter whether they are TCs or fresher Turks, so long as they buckle down and become law-abiding, respect and recognise the government of the RoC.
Basically, it's their behaviour which matters to me.
Indeed. Well said. Respect the rule of law, respect Cyprus and embrace its European values and culture, and who gives a flying fruitcake? But if you were to do that, what need to add the misnomer "Turk" as a qualifier to your identity?
There's nothing wrong with retaining an ethnic identifier. But the days when it carried any political (extra) weight for them, are long gone.
Embracing the RoC-EU, law and order etc are not mutually exclusive to also having an ethnicity. Just as people still use their country of origin to identify themselves from other Europeans.
Their country of origin may be Turkey but do settler consider themselves to be ethnically Turkish? I thought many if not most were Kurds, Alevis, Laz, Pomaks, Roma, Zazas etc.
No problem. I was just generalising as the majority are likely to recognise themselves as "ethnically" Turkish. But Kurds, Alevis ... whatever ... so long as they are upright RoC-supporting citizens, politically, they can be, ethnically, anything their hearts' desire.
