TURKISH SIDE READY TO NEGOTIATE GC PROPOSALS

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

TURKISH SIDE READY TO NEGOTIATE GC PROPOSALS

Postby halil » Thu Jan 21, 2010 11:02 pm

TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat has expressed the TC Side’s readiness to negotiate the Greek Cypriot proposals in the second leg of consecutive talks. Answering the questions of a Greek Cypriot newspaper, the President said the first leg of the talks rather focused on the discussion of the TC proposals on Governance and Power-Sharing.

President Talat explained that foreign relations that the two constituent states will establish were a prior subject during the first round of consecutive discussions.

He said negotiations that will follow the completion of the second leg of intensified talks can only be maintained under some preconditions.

He complained that the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias doesn’t want to hear the word ‘progress’.

Hopeful towards achieving progress during intensified talks, the President noted that the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon will visit Cyprus to encourage both sides in their peace efforts, if progress is really achieved.

On the upcoming presidential elections in the TRNC in April, he said he will most probably announce his decision on candidacy in February.

Diplomacy it is not a game Palio .....Once more have read what both of our leaders were agreed on 23 May Agreement.bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality, as defined by relevant Security Council resolutions. This partnership will have a Federal Government with a single international personality, as well as a Turkish Cypriot Constituent State and a Greek Cypriot Constituent State, which will be of equal status. ..... and talks are have to shape with above agreement ..... Which is I personnaly support above agreement... U can call it Gas ....I can call it Petrol.

@Pyrpolizer Talat and Downer met today .... Have a look what he said
Responding to a question on the Orams case, the UN Envoy said that the best way to solve the property issue is to settle the Cyprus problem through negotiations.Asked how the British Court’s ruling on the Orams Case would affect the course of the negotiations, Mr Downer said that the issue is concerning the courts but added that the case was the proof of the need to find a negotiated settlement to the Cyprus problem.
