but anw what do you make of this news expat? talat seems to be on the right track saying about a re united land.or could this be because he knows he wont be re elected?

By making statements of this publicly, Talat could be trying to get Turkey off his back some. Think: if Talat is being openly pressured by Turkey, then that makes a mockery of Turkey's claim that North Cyprus is a sovereign state, and is in fact a de facto Turkish dependency. Now, by Talat 'nailing his flag to the mast' in this way, its going to give the Turkish Cypriot voters a very clear choice in the upcoming elections.

Well the thing about this is that most of the north is turkish settlers and most likely want two states so they can keep their land. so it cant of been good for talat and votes to make such a statement. though seen as a good sign by some or many in the south i think it will be taken badly in the north by the partitionists like vp and also the settlers

Well, you could be right. But I am a partitionist too, and I didn't take the statement badly. Does that make me a pragmatic partitionist?

not only that but what about the mainland turkish settlers who stand to be sent home if cyprus is re unified and sent home? would they be open to re unified land and happy about talats comments? what about the turks in the north who drive in their cars with huge turkish flags? im sure they want to re unite to

VP is right my friend.
It will not be re-unification with Roc (because that would mean return to the 1960 constitution) but a new Federal state with 2 Fed parts, political equality of the fed parts but no arithmetic equality at the central Fed Government. Heres's the announcement

http://www.cyprus.gov.cy/moi/pio/pio.ns ... endocument

When they say 1 state 1 people etc, they mean the international personality, the way that is that they will know us abroad is through the Central Fed government which of course will just be ONE. Also same currency, one central bank, one sort of IDS and passports etc etc, whatever will actually be agreed for the Central Federal Government. that will just be ONE. The more the responsibilities of the Central Fed Government the Stronger the Federation is.

...there will be three governmental bodies: a State, abd two National Assemblies.

as Individuals, the State will be our defender, and our representative as a People.
as Persons we will administer the territory over which a majority will sustain itself, and as such
there will be a recognition of minorities and the specialneeds they have within this identity.
...this is Bicommunal

the island will not be torn in two, it will have many components. the displaced will have restitution by returning as communities (within enclaves, "north" and "south"), while our Rights as Individuals will be respected universally.
...this is Bizonal

Bicommunal means anything other than two governing bodies.
Bizonal means anything other than two pieces.

(sigh) ...please read my manifesto.
