So have someone put forward my unitary state plan to Christofas and Talat... Of couse, there is also the partition plan, but I don't think Christofas would be interested in that one...

By making statements of this publicly, Talat could be trying to get Turkey off his back some. Think: if Talat is being openly pressured by Turkey, then that makes a mockery of Turkey's claim that North Cyprus is a sovereign state, and is in fact a de facto Turkish dependency. Now, by Talat 'nailing his flag to the mast' in this way, its going to give the Turkish Cypriot voters a very clear choice in the upcoming elections.

Not federal in the proper sense of the word: the voter constituencies for the 50 House seats will be based on overall population demographics, which make the plan unitary. It is in the Senate that the seperate population groups have an equal representation.

Well the thing about this is that most of the north is turkish settlers and most likely want two states so they can keep their land. so it cant of been good for talat and votes to make such a statement. though seen as a good sign by some or many in the south i think it will be taken badly in the north by the partitionists like vp and also the settlers
