Ever the Optimists ...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Papadopoulous did not help by prtetending to support a solution then turning around and pleading to his GC compatriots to reject it. That lost the RoCy a lot of the moral high ground in the international arena. If this occurs again, you might as well have put a ringing endorsement on finalizing the partition of Cyprus.

He did not pretend anything. He did support a solution and optimistically hoped the Annan Plan would be just that. But, when it evolved into a trap for GCs, he rightly warned against it.

So far, he has been proved correct. Imagine if we'd signed over any rights to the Turks ... we wouldn't have had last weeks fantastic landmark ruling.

In view of all this, it is still the TCs who think they can carry on playing "independent state" games with pseudo-presidents and suchlike. They should save themselves some money, and save face, by calling off these pseudo-elections and instead prepare to relinquish their occupation of Cyprus.

Expat, leave our GC friends alone to sleep in their slumber. As far as they are concerned they have nothing to worry about. We prefer it that way, we don't need another battle in another front just yet, wait until its over and then we'll tell them. Deal?
